Today, I want to introduce one of those pieces of content that makes you think, “How does this even work?”

Then before you know it, you look up and realize you’ve been playing it endlessly.

MapleStory has plenty of side content besides grinding and bossing.

And one of the must-know ones is gathering, since it’s essential for getting alchemy materials!

Getting Started with Gathering

From town, use the shortcut to move to <Ardentmill>.

At the bottom right of <Ardentmill>, there’s a portal that takes you to the herb field.

Gathering Requirement

To enter the gathering farm, you need to kill 1,000 monsters around your level.

Farm those kills, then head back.

Gathering Farm

My Herb Gathering level is 10, and since today’s target is Juniper Berry Seed,

I’m going to harvest the purple herb piles in the Expert Gathering Farm.

Purple Herb Pile

This is what a purple herb pile looks like.

Harvesting it can give you Juniper Berry Flower, Juniper Berry Seed, and Hyssop Flower.

On Scania, a single Juniper Berry Seed sells for a whopping 700,000 mesos,

so if you throw on some YouTube and keep gathering, you’ll notice your wallet getting fatter before you know it!!

And since it’d be a waste to stop here, here are a few gathering tips!

Leveling Herb Gathering

You get EXP whenever you successfully gather herbs.

But honestly, in the early to mid stages, there isn’t much profit in it, and it takes way too long,

so for your own sanity, it’s better to just clear the Root Abyss bosses daily and collect the tickets there that raise your profession level.

Gathering Tips

Your gathering efficiency changes depending on what gathering gear you have equipped.

There is some sold by the profession merchant, but...

I don’t really think it’s worth the cost, so

I just gather at a PC café when I’m there, and if I’m not, I simply gather from home without worrying about it too much.
