[MapleStory] A Tough but Fun Boss: Verus Hilla Patterns #์๊ฐ๋ฝ์ด๋
์ ์ด๋ฉ๋ฅด
Hello,
Iโm Jmer, a Nexon Picker ๐
Weekly bosses are one of those things MapleStory players canโt really skip!
After all, beating them gives you crystal stones that can be exchanged for mesos.
The harder the boss, the better the rewards, so plenty of players build their routine around bosses more than grinding.
Today, Iโm going to break down a weekly boss thatโs basically #์๊ฐ๋ฝ์ด๋-tier, but still very rewarding to take on:
Verus Hillaโs patterns.
1. Thread Pattern & Altar
In Verus Hilla, your death count is shown as skulls in the top UI.
When your HP is fully depleted, one green skull disappears.
If you get hit by the red threads that periodically drop from above, one green skull turns red.
It does not deal HP damage, but it does stop you from moving for about 3 seconds.
The easiest way to think about a red skull is that youโve temporarily given up one death count!
There are also safe zones where the threads do not fall.
That said, you do not need to dodge every single thread.
When the number of red skulls reaches at least half the number of remaining green skulls, an altar appears.
If you interact with the altar, you can use potions for a set period of time, and your red skulls turn back to green.
If your HP is low, intentionally taking a thread hit to trigger and use the altar is also a valid option.
However, if the altar overlaps with Verus Hilla, it disappears and respawns somewhere else.
Verus Hilla also has a teleport pattern that jumps to your characterโs position,
so sometimes you get those really unfair moments where she steps on the altar and you canโt use potions.
If all skulls turn red, thatโs a thread-out (death-count out), and if all green skulls disappear, thatโs also a death-count out.
2. Soul Slash
Thereโs also a timer shown below the skulls.
When it hits 0, Verus Hilla swings her scythe and removes all red skulls.
They do not turn back to greenโthe death counts themselves are gone.
So when the timer is running low, restore your skulls at the altar first,
then make sure to avoid the threads and keep your skulls green!
I usually wait on the far right side of the map when there are about 10 to 20 seconds left.
That spot is relatively safe because the threads do not fall there.
If Verus Hilla comes over, I deal with it using Origin or an invincibility skill!
3. Summoning the Incarnation of Desire
Verus Hilla also summons the Incarnation of Desire.
A few seconds after you defeat it, it collapses where it stands and spreads poison.
Touching it deals damage over time, so itโs best to position carefully and avoid it.
4. Poison Cloud
Hereโs another pattern you need to avoid!
Poison clouds appear for about 8 seconds at random locations or around your character.
If you stay inside them, you take damage over time, so itโs better to attack from poison-free areas.
5. Bind (Blue Bind)
Personally, this was the pattern I found the trickiest.
After Verus Hilla releases a blue soul, 1 second later she binds enemies in front of her for about 4 seconds.
After that, she swings her scythe and knocks the player far away.
The damage itself is not very high, but it can get dangerous if it overlaps with other patterns.
If you see the blue soul effect, itโs best to quickly move in the opposite direction.
I usually stay close to Verus Hilla while attacking, then immediately sidestep away once I see the pattern start.
Aside from that, for scythe swings, shard attacks, and scythe slams, itโs safest to dodge as soon as you see them.
6. Bone Wave
Starting in Phase 2, green or purple bone waves appear.
You can tell which direction to move by the color of the scythe before the attack.
If itโs green, stand in front; if itโs purple, stand behind. Memorize it as <green front, purple back>!
You will also die if you get too far from the boss, so you need to stay either right in front or right behind. Please refer to the GIF.
7. Summoning Suu & Damian
In Phase 3, Suu is summoned, and in Phase 4, Damian is summoned.
Each appears in the form of the final phase from their original boss fight.
Their HP is low, so you can take them down quicklyโmake them the priority!
That wraps up my breakdown of Verus Hillaโs patterns.
Sheโs definitely a #์๊ฐ๋ฝ์ด๋ kind of boss, but that also makes her really fun to practice!
As you keep challenging her, your understanding of your class will naturally improve too.
I hope this helped, even if just a little.
