Today, we’re continuing with the MapleLand Snowflake Coin event quests. This time, we’re heading to Kerning City. The NPC who gives the quest here is Nella, so let’s go meet her and get started. In this post, I’ll walk through Preparing for Winter in Kerning City.

Nella

Nella is one of Kerning City’s signature NPCs. Along with Icarus, she’s one of those characters that really sticks in your memory. It feels like it’s been almost two years since I last saw her. Anyway, let’s talk to her and start the winter prep quest.

Just like the previous NPCs, Nella is shivering in the cold too. This winter really is harsh. Still, she says staying indoors all the time feels stuffy, and somehow makes her feel behind the times. She even brought plenty of hot packs because she couldn’t win against her mom’s nagging. But after a while, those hot packs cooled down, and now she needs new ones. So, before she turns into an icicle, she asks the player for help. Why she doesn’t just buy them from a shop herself... well, who knows.

According to JM in the Back Alley, the monsters around Kerning City are carrying hot packs. The player basically calls that a lie, but Nella says she’s about to turn into an icicle, so just trust her for now. In any case, she asks you to collect a total of 5 Hot Packs. It’s a little funny that monsters are running around with hot packs in the middle of winter, but that’s the Maple world for you.

How to Get Hot Packs

To get the Hot Packs, I headed to a nearby hunting map. Since it was closest, I went to the Kerning City Construction Site. There, I hunted weaker monsters like Snails, Orange Mushrooms, and Octopuses.

The drop rate isn’t especially low, either. If you see a Hot Pack, pick it up right away and keep hunting until you have 5 total. Just like the previous winter prep quest, this one takes less than five minutes, so no need to worry. Once you’ve collected all 5, head straight back to Nella.

Reward

Once you return to Nella, she sees that Hot Packs really did drop and realizes JM was telling the truth. I still have no idea why monsters are carrying them around, though. Anyway, I handed the Hot Packs over to Nella just before she became an icicle.

Now warmed up and no longer on the verge of becoming an icicle, Nella wraps up the quest while oddly worrying that she might turn red like an Octopus. The reward is Snowflake Coins.

Gaga’s Shop

I bought another 2x EXP Coupon, so now there’s only 1 left in stock. That said, there isn’t much time left in the event period, so it’s probably best to clear these quests quickly.

Wrapping Up

The quest is available until Thursday, February 6. So if you haven’t done it yet, you’ll want to finish it before then. Anyway, I’ll be back with the next winter prep quest. If you’re still putting this one off, there’s not much time left, so make sure to clear it soon.
