You’ve gotta win! MapleStory’s Top 3 bosses that keep your hands insanely busy
재파민
Hello, I’m Jaepamin, currently maining a Shadower on Bera,
and that’s me!
In an MMORPG like MapleStory, boss content is basically the heart of the game. You raise a character with a ton of effort, smack down a boss with it, and get rewards that match—that’s the real fun, honestly.
But some bosses are just not pushovers. There are endgame bosses you can’t simply crush with raw damage, and out of those, I want to talk about three that have especially made Maple users suffer(?).
Seren
The first boss I want to cover is Seren. She’s the first boss you encounter in Grandis after reaching level 270, and just judging by her looks, you’d think she’d be gentle. Nope—her patterns are downright brutal.
Seren starts throwing out more than five patterns from phase 1 alone. Wide-range lasers, falling debris, lava eruptions, basic attack damage, and aura just keep coming with no break, and when I first challenged her, I genuinely thought I was going to lose it.
To make it worse, she has terrible synergy with my main, Shadower, so practicing this boss was honestly painful. There are barely any openings to deal damage.
Phase 2 is a whole mess too. After a certain point, you face a different version of Seren with a new pattern set, and 2-2 is just pure suffering. To avoid patterns that shave off your HP at basically one-shot level, you have to duck your head.
I’ve probably bowed my head here more times than I’ve ever given my parents a proper 90-degree greeting. Because of that, this is not really a boss you can just overgear and burst down. On the flip side, since you have to fully learn the patterns to clear it, the satisfaction is incredible.
Once you get used to it like I did, you can dodge most of the patterns while still getting your damage in. And somehow, weaving through everything without getting hit even once feels ridiculously good.
Dunkel
The second boss is Dunkel. Since he tends to get grouped together with Darknell, players who clear Darknell easily often go in thinking, “Dunkel won’t be anything special either~” Yeah... every single one of them ended up paying for that.
Just like Seren, he also throws out more than five patterns, and players even call it the “go out and die pattern”. There isn’t really some clean counterplay for it, either. The second the pattern starts, you just have to read the situation and dodge with movement.
But that’s exactly what makes it so hard. If your luck is bad, you get hit dead-on by chained patterns like I did and lose a life count.
Still, once you get familiar with the patterns and your class mastery is high enough, it becomes manageable. That said, if you’re not playing a mobile class like mine, this boss can feel a lot rougher.
Guardian Angel Slime
The third boss is Guardian Angel Slime. If you’ve taken part in a Burning event, this is probably a familiar boss to you. Normal mode is manageable enough, but Chaos has a truly absurd amount of unfair nonsense.
Guardian Angel Slime’s attack patterns include red lasers, jump one-shots, knockback, and green lasers, and on top of that, it summons little slimes to get in your way. When those hit you back-to-back, it gets seriously irritating.
More than anything, while dodging all those patterns and dealing damage, you also have to block one dimensional portal. That’s what puts the boss into a “groggy state,” where you can really land your damage properly.
When it’s not in that groggy state, your damage gets reduced, so the fight takes a lot longer. Even so, this was the first boss that made me actively study patterns and figure out counterplay, so it’s a really meaningful boss to me.
That wraps up my TOP 3 Maple bosses that keep your hands busy. A boss around Seren’s level is still within reach for low-to-mid spenders, so once you get comfortable with the mechanics, you should be able to clear it without too much trouble. Thanks for reading!
