The game I play is MapleStory

With “Story” right there in the name, you'd hope MapleStory had some interesting lore—and it does,

so plenty of players are really into the story. Me? Not so much.

Whenever there's a quest I have to do, like the main quests,

I just mash the spacebar through the whole thing, so I barely know the storyㅎㅎ;

The worst story quest I've ever been forced to sit through was Black Heaven.

No fun, no emotional payoff, just a ridiculous time sink with some pretty tough quests thrown in,

so yeah, nothing but bad memories there..

But even I have one story I actually paid attention to,

and that's the story of my main class, Hoyoung!

Taotie is sealed away in the mountain out back by Hoyoung's master, but while the master is away,

he calls Hoyoung over and asks him to undo the seal.

Hoyoung knows nothing in life is free, though,

so he just toys with Taotie for a bit and leaves.

Except sticking the talisman on and peeling it off has left it barely sticky anymore,

so the wind blows it right off.

And out comes Taotie.

Armed with a talisman he stole from his master's drawer,

Hoyoung tries to seal Taotie away, but

only Taotie ends up sealed inside Hoyoung's body,

while all the other monsters get loose in the world.

Getting sealed inside Hoyoung turns Taotie into a tiny, cute version of himself,

and the story really gets going when Hoyoung sets off to round up the monsters he let loose.

Along the way, he works as a fixer, and there's a scene where he learns his class-exclusive skill, Nimbus Cloud,

which I liked—learning his own class skill felt like a natural part of the story.

There's also a scene where he meets a rat demon disguised as a handsome mage and promptly runs for his life,

which was just so Hoyoung. Too cuteㅋㅋ

After that, he heads to Maple World, where you do Hoyoung's class quests, the Monster-Sealing Quests, as you hit certain levels.

I remember those being fun too, so I actually followed the story instead of skipping through it.

I originally picked him as my main because I liked his character design and skill effects,

but after playing through his story, I came to love Hoyoung himself.

Now I can't ditch him even if he sucks gameplay-wise..ㅎ

Even if you skip every other story in MapleStory,

I really hope you'll give your main class's story a chance, at least!
