[MapleStory] 9 Things That Represent MapleStory! #이미지보드
제이메르
Hello,
I’m Jaymer, a Nexon Picker 😊
Have you ever heard the term image board?
An image board is a visual piece that brings a mood or theme together through several images, so you can grasp it at a glance.
Today, I created an image board based on MapleStory!
Since it’s a game that has been running for such a long time, I wanted to condense its many adventures and stories into one collection.
1. Orange Mushroom
Personally, when I think of MapleStory, Orange Mushroom is the very first thing that comes to mind.
It’s only one of many monsters, but to me, it captures Maple’s signature cute and charming atmosphere.
It’s such a familiar character that it’s even used as the official YouTube profile image,
so I chose it for the first image board!
2. Henesys
MapleStory has many different towns, but if I had to choose the representative town, it would still be Henesys.
As a PC MMORPG, Maple naturally has players spending a lot of time in town,
and Henesys was always full of people and activity!
It also brings back memories of putting up minigame signs and meeting new people when I was younger.
It felt like a kind of Maple-exclusive metaverse space, so I couldn’t leave it out of the image board!
3. The Friends from Comic MapleStory
These are the main characters from 'Comic MapleStory', the manga that was loved just as much as the game itself.
The adventures and friendships of characters like Dodo, Aruru, Deliki, and Bau were a huge talking point at the time.
Its creative story, which reinterpreted the game’s setting,
also became the gateway that brought many of today’s Maple players into the game.
It’s an especially nostalgic element for players in their 20s and 30s, so I wanted to include it in the image board.
4. Zakum
This is Zakum, the giant boss with eight arms.
At one point, Zakum was MapleStory’s final boss. It was raid content that up to 30 players could take on together.
I still remember the tension of gathering with a party, taking down the arms one by one, and finally earning the helmet.
5. Heroes
These are the ‘Heroes’ who sealed away the Black Mage and fell asleep in the ice.
Each one added depth to MapleStory through a distinct narrative and dazzling skill effects.
The idea that players could become a Hero themselves and follow that story also felt wonderfully fresh.
Out of all of them, I especially remember having the most fun playing Evan!
6. Pink Bean
This is Pink Bean, the iconic pre-quest boss you could only encounter after a long questline.
In contrast to the heavy atmosphere of the Temple of Time, its quirky and adorable design left a strong impression!
I think Pink Bean broke the stereotype that “boss characters have to be scary.”
That’s part of why it became just as famous as Orange Mushroom.
As a small side note, one day while playing an original Flash game, I came across a BGM track I really loved.
It was so distinctive and memorable that it stayed with me, even though I had no way to track it down,
and it turned out to be the Temple of Time BGM!
I still remember getting chills when I first entered the Temple of Time and heard it there.
7. Lucid
For those who only played Maple before the Big Bang update, the story after Arcane River may feel unfamiliar.
Lachelein in Arcane River is a beloved area known for its lively, party-like BGM and presentation.
And the character who represents it is none other than Lucid!
She has remained consistently popular since her debut, so I included her in the image board.
8. Black Mage
This is the final boss, the Black Mage, who remained shrouded in mystery for a long time.
I also remember many players returning to Maple when he finally appeared.
As a figure who symbolizes Maple’s long-running story, there was no way I could leave him out of the image board.
9. Gerdlock
MapleStory is set to introduce the new level 295 area 'Gerdlock' on February 12.
The fact that a region at this level range is already arriving really makes the game’s long history sink in for me!
I placed it in the final image board to represent the story’s most recent chapter.
From the familiar Orange Mushroom to the new area Gerdlock,
I’ve tried to capture MapleStory’s history through these nine images.
Personally, whenever I look at the Henesys image, the BGM still starts playing in my head automatically ㅎㅎ
Which image stands out most in your memory?
