Hello!

In this post, I will take a look at several distinctive fonts (typefaces) developed by Nexon Korea.

Typefaces are essential to how we read and write text on screen,

but beyond simply displaying letters, they can also bring their own distinctive designs and personalities to the text.

In games in particular, the design of a single typeface can

define a game's atmosphere or even become a symbol of the game itself, which is why

typefaces deserve attention, even if we often pass over them without a second thought.

With this in mind, several typefaces used in Nexon games

have been released as standalone fonts

so that players can freely use them in a variety of ways outside the games.

Currently, there are 10 free fonts and 1 paid font,

and while I like the collection as a whole for its individual designs and characteristics,

I would like to introduce 3 fonts that particularly caught my attention.

넥슨 배찌체

넥슨 배찌체 was selected through a typeface design competition,

and what sets it apart is that it was created by a player who enjoys the games.

Looking at the font's design,

and considering that Bazzi is one of the characters associated with Nexon's casual games, such as Crazy Arcade and KartRider,

its soft, rounded appearance feels fitting.

(Doesn't it bring to mind Bazzi as he appears in the games?)

These qualities make 넥슨 배찌체 a good fit for lighthearted, informal writing, such as conversations with friends or diary entries, in my view.

넥슨 메이플스토리

넥슨 메이플스토리 is a typeface inspired by the atmosphere of MapleStory,

and it captures the game's distinctive feel particularly well.

(Example of the font in use)

The lettering is clear and well-defined without feeling rigid,

and with softened edges where there might otherwise be sharp corners,

it has a cuter, brighter look than other fonts.

For these reasons, I think 넥슨 메이플스토리 is particularly well suited to explanatory content.

I use it myself in a variety of ways, including video subtitles and thumbnails,

and find it quite versatile.

넥슨 카트 고딕

넥슨 카트 고딕 is a typeface used in KartRider: Drift,

and its appearance is noticeably different from the other fonts we have looked at so far.

(Example of the font in use)

With its somewhat rigid, vertically stretched design,

the lettering looks as though it could shoot upward with a burst of acceleration from a drift.

I think these qualities make it a good choice when you want to make an immediate impact and draw visual attention to specific content.

Although KartRider: Drift has shut down, leaving only this font behind,

we can look forward to 카트라이더 클래식, which is due to launch soon.

How to Download and Install

The fonts are available to download here:

https://brand.nexon.com/ko/ci-brand-guidelines/typeface

Follow this link to download them.

Once you have downloaded a font you like and extracted the archive,

you will find .ttf and .otf files, as shown in the image.

Here is a brief explanation of the difference between the two:

.ttf is a font format optimized for everyday document use, with the benefit of fast loading times,

while .otf renders curves differently, offering higher visual quality for clean, refined lettering.

Now, simply click the Install button in the upper left,

and the font will be installed on your PC, ready for you to use freely.

Simple, isn't it?

Points to Keep in Mind

Although all rights to these typefaces, including intellectual property rights, belong to Nexon Korea,

you can use them without concern, as commercial use and distribution are freely permitted.

However, modifying the typeface files themselves or selling them is prohibited,

and crediting the source of the typeface is recommended, so be sure to check that your use complies with copyright requirements.

That concludes our look at some of the fonts offered by Nexon Korea and their characteristics.

There are several other distinctive and highly versatile fonts available beyond those featured in this post,

so I recommend visiting the site above to find and try a font that suits your preferences.
