Cafe-themed maps in MapleStory and the memorable desserts you can find there #카페 디저트 페어

Hello
The keyword for this post is Cafe Dessert Fair—looking through the game for cafe-themed elements and appetizing dessert foods.
With that in mind, I put together some cafe-themed maps from MapleStory, along with a few memorable dessert sprites.
Cafe-Themed Map: Kerning Tower 2nd Floor
Kerning Tower is a theme dungeon that carries on the old Kerning Square, and it stands out as one of the rarer stylish modern buildings in MapleStory.
As for Kerning Square, you can still see traces of some of its old maps while progressing through Hyuk's past recollection quest. At this point, though, there is no area there that looks like a cafe.
In Kerning Tower, the entire second floor is set up as a cafe, so the backgrounds and monsters both match that theme.
One of the NPCs who gets scouted and debuts as an idol during the quest also used to work part-time at this cafe.
Cafe-Themed Map: YOU&I Cafe
YOU & I Cafe was a building that appeared during the 15th anniversary event, Maple 15th Street.
It was a fairly cozy cafe map, and there was apparently an event at the time where entering with guild members rewarded EXP coupons. Because of that, if you were not in a guild, you could not participate in the event at all.
One of the minigames that rewarded event coins involved balancing a cup while avoiding falling dust, and based on review posts from the time, it seems the difficulty was pretty high.
At the time, Irene, who handled this event, was also the NPC in charge of Maple Chat. After a revamp, though, she was removed, so now she is an NPC you cannot see anywhere.
Lastly, the cafe's name, You&I, was also one of MapleStory's 2013 update themes, and that was when Eunwol, The Seed, and World Leap first appeared.
Other Cafe-Themed Elements
You can also spot a cafe in the background of FriendStory, which is set in a fully modern world, but unfortunately it is not enterable.
In overseas MapleStory, there was apparently a cafe-themed event around 2021. The format and rewards were probably not too different from KMS.
That said, I had never seen the main NPCs for it before, so I searched them by keyword and found that they were overseas-exclusive NPCs not present in KMS. They seem to be related to Japanese history content.
MapleStory's Cakes
This custom cake chair appeared in the 2018 Christmas event Camila's Heart-Pounding Bakery, and the sprite looks especially well done and very appetizing. These custom chair events used to show up every so often in the past, just when you had almost forgotten about them, but now they seem to have disappeared completely.
There was also apparently an event at the time where cookies would fall in towns at certain times.
I remembered seeing this giant cake monster somewhere before, but I could not remember exactly where, so I looked it up and found that it had appeared in a Taiwan anniversary event.
The event map from that time also looks very well made, and it makes me wonder how it would have felt if it had been brought over to our events, even just briefly.
As rewards, it apparently gave out cake items that are familiar to us as well.
The Dessert Sprite I Personally Remember Most
Lastly, the food sprite that has stayed with me the most was the one that appeared in the 17th anniversary event 7-Star Catering Buffet.
It was a coin-earning event tied to the Hotel Maple concept, which was the overall theme of the 17th anniversary at the time, and the idea was that hotel food would be delivered whenever you defeated monsters.
I remember the desserts from that event, along with the other dishes, looking especially appetizing. Even now, they still do.
It was not the same event, but the Hamburger Punch King event that appeared later gives off a similar feeling. It would be nice to see more food sprites in this style again.
Thank you for reading.
