Helping the ghost monsters of MapleStory’s Maple World find peace #지금부터 일주일 안에

Hello
The keyword for this post is within the next week, so the idea was to finally do something I had been meaning to try for a while but kept postponing. In my case, the first thing that came to mind was earning the Exorcist medals
A medal quest line for laying ghost-type monsters to rest
These quests have been around for quite a long time, although I do not know exactly how long. Since the medals, which are currently the only rewards, essentially have no built-in effects, they are not especially attractive on their own, but they have recently become more well known thanks to Union Artifact missions
You can start the quest line from the One Who Remembers in Sleepywood. If there is one reason this quest lingered in my memory, it is that Maple World has all kinds of strange monsters, yet ghosts and spirits were still treated as their own separate category. In a world where tree stumps with axes in them can walk around and mushrooms can be as large as houses, it was interesting to me that spiritual horror still had its own place
Once you accept the quest, the basic concept is simple: defeat monsters in that category and lay them to rest. Even the required counts, 44 and 444, make the structure very easy to follow
Spirit Seer → Yin Yang Master → Exorcist → Saint Exorcist can be completed in order, and the details for each are below. I also included the monsters' World Archive investigation entries
<Spirit Seer> Medal Quest
-
Defeat 444 Platoon Chronos: Path of Time <1>
-
Defeat 444 Master Chronos: Path of Time <4>
-
Defeat 444 Mummydogs: Camp 1
Mummydogs do not have a map where they appear by themselves. That said, they seem to show up a bit more often in Camp 1, which you can enter through that passage, than in the Excavation Site Intermission Area
-
Defeat 444 Wraiths: Line 2 Area 2
After defeating all of the monsters above and returning, you will receive the <Spirit Seer> medal
<Yin Yang Master> Medal Quest
-
Defeat 444 Skeleton Soldiers: Dangerous Excavation Area
-
Defeat 444 Skeleton Officers: Closed Area
-
Defeat 444 Coolie Zombies: Dead Tree Forest
-
Defeat 444 Minor Zombies: The Mine
-
Defeat 44 Zombie Mushmoms: Ant Tunnel 2
Zombie Mushmom can appear in one of three places: the upper center, or the lower left or right side. Its respawn time is 25 minutes. If you plan to do this, I recommend defeating the Zombie Mushmom that is already there first, then clearing the other monsters, and coming back to finish the rest afterward
After defeating all of the monsters above and returning, you will receive the <Yin Yang Master> medal
<Exorcist> Medal Quest
-
Defeat 444 Soul Teddies: Forgotten Path of Time <1>
-
Defeat 444 Master Soul Teddies: Forgotten Path of Time <1>
These two appear together on the same map
-
Defeat 444 Dark Clocks: Forgotten Path of Time <2>
-
Defeat 444 Master Death Teddies: Lost Time
You can enter through that portal
-
Defeat 444 Mr. AlliShars: Authorized Personnel Only
After defeating all of the monsters above and returning, you will receive the <Exorcist> medal
<Saint Exorcist> Medal Quest
-
Defeat 444 Skelos: The Dragon Nest Left Behind
-
Defeat 444 Skelegons: The Dragon Nest Left Behind
Star Force monsters with [★] in their names do not count. The inconvenient part here is that only the non-Star Force map is larger and also has a higher monster count
-
Defeat 444 Phantom Watches: Forgotten Path of Time <4>
-
Defeat 444 G. Phantom Watches: Forbidden Time
Entrance to Forbidden Time
-
Defeat 444 Bone Fish: Deep Sea Gorge II
Lastly, after defeating all of the monsters above and returning, you will receive the <Saint Exorcist> medal
Closing Thoughts
1) The total time required is roughly 2 hours. You need to defeat 8036 monsters in all, and while that is not even enough to finish a weekly mission, it still takes longer than expected because of the older map layouts and the cases where target monsters are mixed in with other spawns
2) You can check your progress in the Quest tab of the Medal menu
3) Completing all of them gives a total of 2000 Artifact EXP
4) Once you obtain all 4 medals, the related achievement is completed
Constantine is apparently an older film related to exorcists
5) Since this seems to be a quest line from before titles were introduced, the NPC scripts sometimes use medals and titles interchangeably
6) In Thanatos's case, I was a little disappointed that it was not included, because visually it really does seem like something that ought to be laid to rest
7) The medal designs are fairly nice, and the naming draws from both Eastern and Western themes. They would suit a Bishop especially well. Since medal appearance and stats can now be set separately, this may be worth trying if it catches your interest and you have time to spare
