I'm back with another MapleLand quest guide. This time, we'll work through a quest from Kenta, the zookeeper in Aquarium. We'll be covering the Monster Riding quest, which is closely tied to the monster riding feature.

Kenta the Zookeeper

Kenta seems troubled and asks for your help as soon as she sees you.

She is researching ways for monsters and humans to coexist. Her goal is to prove that monsters can live alongside humans if their aggression is removed.

However, she explains that simply seeing monsters is not enough to make people fond of them, so she has begun a new line of research.

Her research is nearly complete and will allow people to ride monsters as a means of travel. However, someone is trying to steal it, leaving her in a difficult position.

Your objective is to protect the hogs from their attackers. Kenta also asks you to bring back 5 Pheromones and 5 Research Reports.

Heading Out to Protect the Hog

To begin protecting the hog, speak to Kenta and select the option to head out and protect it.

How to Obtain Pheromones

First, let's look at collecting Pheromones. You can obtain them while protecting the hog from Barnard Grays, and you will need 5 in total.

Pheromones look like pink hearts, as shown here. Pick up 5 to complete the first objective.

How to Obtain Research Reports

The next objective is to collect Research Reports. You will find treasure chests in Kenta's breeding room, which you can break with basic attacks to obtain the reports they drop. You need to break 5 treasure chests to collect all the reports you need.

That gives us 5 Pheromones and 5 Research Reports. Once you have collected all of them, head back outside and speak to Kenta.

Rewards

Kenta is very grateful to you for protecting the hog from attacks and bringing back the Pheromones and Research Reports.

Kenta says that your help has proven you worthy of this skill and gives you a saddle as well. You receive 1 Saddle, the Monster Riding skill, and 32,000 EXP.

With her pheromone research now complete, Kenta asks you to visit her again if you are interested in using a monster for transportation. This brings the Monster Riding quest to a close.

Closing Thoughts

Today, we covered Kenta's Monster Riding quest. There is also a follow-up quest, which I plan to cover in another guide. Apparently, the next quest requires quite a lot of money, so I'll need to save up a little more before moving on.
