Buy everything you want while you can (feat. retired label items)

When I really got into MapleStory 8 years ago, there was a look I had my heart set on: the combination of 티파티 왕리본, 플라잉 로맨스, 루야 헤어, and 발랄 트레블러. The colors were so pretty!

Each piece cost at least 5 billion mesos back then, which was a pretty big stretch for my budget. But I remember buying them anyway, thinking, “If I don’t buy these now, I’m definitely going to regret it.”

I was so happy when I finally completed the set!!! And those items I worked so hard to get? Guess where they are 8 years later!

They’re now some seriously sought-after retired label items, with each piece fetching around 50 billion mesos or more. They were so pretty that I was sure their prices would go up, but I never imagined they’d climb this high.

I still wear them every now and then ㅎㅎ Pretty retired label items are bound to go up in value, so if there’s something you want, don’t hold back—just buy it!

Take lots of screenshots

There’s something about looking at childhood photos that makes me a little sentimental. All those memories come back, and I can’t help but feel happy. Games are no different. As far as I’m concerned, you can never have too many old screenshots to look back on.

The events going on at the time, the outfits everyone was wearing, the UI, funny moments, group photos… Save plenty of screenshots, and you’ll have all those memories to revisit. They say memories are what keep us going. I really do think that’s important.

I wish I had more MapleStory screenshots. That’s why I’ve been making a point of saving lots of screenshots in Mabinogi Mobile, which I’ve been enjoying lately.

Stock up on rare items

Items released “back in the day” grow more valuable by the day unless the game company brings them back. Just looking at rare items can bring back memories, too. Some prime examples are Coke Town and the Coca-Cola Shield.

Every so often, someone shows these items through item links, and even that gets a “Wow~” out of me. More importantly, even unupgraded items can become pricey. So if something looks pretty or seems like it might become rare someday, it could be worth stocking up.

Everything I’ve written today is advice for my future self, too—the one reading this post 5–7 years from now. It almost feels like I’m writing myself a letter. I’ll keep having fun with games and collecting items that might become rare someday. Hehe
