Last time, we explored Phantom Forest, another area in Masteria. Today, we're back in New Leaf City because Lita Lawless has something for me to do. What does she have in store? Let's take a look at Fool's Gold.

Lita Lawless

The player wants to become a bounty hunter, and Lita says she's placed a bounty on a certain monster in Phantom Forest.

The target this time is the Leprechaun—or, as she puts it, one of those pesky devils. Click the first paragraph to continue.

Lita Lawless launches into a story about her past and how she became a sheriff, but the player asks her to skip all that and just explain what a Leprechaun is.

The short version: she picked up a bag of mesos and was ambushed by a monster.

To keep the next part brief, she figured out the monster's attack patterns during a fierce battle and eventually defeated it. All it left behind was a few mesos and a silver clover. I don't have any major complaints about this character, but she does go on a bit.

Lita finishes by saying she's glad she remembered the advice of the Dark Lord, the Thief Job Instructor. The player remarks that it sounds like quite a battle and thanks her for the story.

Now, on to the quest objective. She asks you to defeat the Leprechauns with their dirty tricks and collect 30 Lucky Charms—the silver clovers she mentioned.

Leprechaun Hunting Grounds

I headed back into Phantom Forest for the hunt. The hunting spot is called Bent Tree, and it's in the first section of Phantom Forest, so it isn't too hard to find. Leprechauns are level 45 monsters, and they aren't nearly as troublesome as Lita makes them sound. Meso bags lying on the ground are very likely to be Leprechauns, so those are your targets.

Lucky Charm Market Prices

Lucky Charms sell for 100,000 to 150,000 mesos each because their drop rate is painfully low. With 30 required, you're looking at 3,000,000 to 4,500,000 mesos to buy them.

Rewards

The rewards aren't particularly good: 50,000 EXP, but only 100,000 mesos. That's one thing if you collected the items by hunting, but if you bought them through 메랜지지, you're down 2,900,000 or 4,400,000 mesos.

Wrapping Up

This quest is a little disappointing. It pays 100,000 mesos, but you stand to spend more than you earn. The low Lucky Charm drop rate doesn't help, either. Even if you collect them all by hunting, running low on mana potions means another trip to restock. All in all, it's a rather unrewarding quest.
