What comes to mind when you think of bad behavior in games?

The list goes on, and just thinking about it is tiring.

Gaming etiquette is actually quite simple.

You're interacting with people, just as you do in real life. The only difference is that you can't see their faces.

Real-life etiquette = gaming etiquette. Keep that in mind, and it's straightforward.

Then you just need to account for a few things specific to each game.

Given the topic, this may get a little dry and pedantic.

Before we begin, let's cover a few basics that should go without saying in every game, anytime and anywhere.

• Don't use abusive language

• Don't abandon your party during group play

• Don't cause trouble for others

• Be on time

• Say hello

Following these basics may not win people over, but at least you won't give them a reason to dislike you.

Learn the mechanics and attack patterns

Abyss and raids are the highlights of Mabinogi Mobile.

Unless you're joining a blind progression party, you're expected to learn the mechanics and attack patterns before going in.

Gaming communities are very active these days, so written and illustrated guides are easy to find.

Reading a guide takes less than 5 minutes, so make sure you read one before going in.

You can also keep it open on your phone or a second monitor while you play.

Don't turn on Assist and stop watching the screen

Mabinogi Mobile is not an idle game.

Leaving the game unattended is fine when you're hunting alone or running easy normal dungeons.

However, some Deep Dungeons on Very Hard have mechanics designed to counter Assist, so you need to watch the screen.

Southern Ruins D1-1, for example...

Mimics and Succubi can kill you before you realize what's happening.

And if you go down, please revive right away.

The need to pay attention in Abyss and raids goes without saying, doesn't it?

I take extra care in Chance Encounters

Mabinogi Mobile has a random matchmaking feature called Chance Encounters, often shortened to "우만" in Korean.

Since I don't have anyone I know to play with, I spend almost 90% of my playtime in Chance Encounters.

A regular party stays together if you disconnect. In Chance Encounters, though, disconnecting means your time with that party is over.

That's why I try to be especially considerate.

If you disconnect, log back in and at least offer an apology, whether in world chat or a whisper.

It's only a few words, but they can ease people's frustration.

They can turn "Oh, damn it..." into "These things happen."

There's a saying that a kind word can repay a debt of a thousand nyang. It's worth keeping in mind.

In games or in real life, you're dealing with people—the principle is the same

If you bump into someone on the street, you say, "Oh, I'm sorry," before moving on, don't you?

Think about the courtesy you show strangers in everyday life.

You only need to show that same level of courtesy in-game.
