Hello, this is GameSky.

Today, I’m back with another MapleLand quest guide. This time, it’s another Jay quest. Apparently this one also gives a scroll as a reward, so in this post, we’ll go over Jay’s third quest, Soul Stolen by Darkness.

So, let’s get started.

Starting Level: 70 or higher

Table of Contents

  • Jay

  • Ticket Prices for the Train to Orbis & the Train to Ludibrium

  • Master Soul Teddy Hunting Ground

  • Free Spirit

  • Reward

  • Helmet DEF Scroll Price

  • Wrapping Up

Jay

Jay says he’s grateful for the help from last time, but it sounds like something still isn’t quite settled.

As it turns out, the item he asked for last time was already included in the materials he had collected. He apologizes for that, even though we went out of our way to gather it. (So... we have to go all the way back.)

So this time, he asks us to collect something else. According to him, this item is definitely recorded properly in the literature, so this one should be correct. (At this point, it really feels like the workload just doubled.)

Anyway, the player ends up back on the job again. This time, Jay asks for 100 Free Spirits dropped by Master Soul Teddy. In other words... yes, we’re heading back to that same map again.

Ticket Prices for the Train to Orbis & the Train to Ludibrium

Anyway, I went to Ellinia, got a ticket for the train to Orbis, waited 15 minutes, and then boarded. As mentioned earlier, the train to Orbis costs 20,000 mesos.

After arriving in Orbis, I went to the Ludibrium platform, bought a ticket there, waited another 15 minutes, and got on board. The ticket costs 6,000 mesos.

Master Soul Teddy Hunting Ground

The hunting map is The Path of Forgotten Time <1>, the same place I visited during the previous Jay quest. The Master Soul Teddy here is level 67, which makes it 4 levels higher than the level 63 Soul Teddy. Still, just like before, it’s undead, so Heal attacks work on it.

Free Spirit

Free Spirit is fairly expensive on 메랜지지. It goes for around 2,800 to 5,000 mesos each. Since the goal is 100 of them, you may need 280,000 to 500,000 mesos. That’s enough money to buy 5,000 Blue Potions. On top of that, Master Soul Teddy isn’t exactly a heavily spawning mob on its map, so this part may leave you thinking twice.

Reward

Once you collect everything and return to Jay, he says he can finally continue writing his book. After putting the player through all that, he really should hand over a good scroll, right?

The reward is 1 scroll. After checking what I got, it turned out to be a Helmet DEF Scroll 10%.

Helmet DEF Scroll Price

Helmet DEF Scrolls don’t sell for all that much. The market price is around 210,000 to 300,000 mesos. If you bought all 100 Free Spirits and then ended up with Helmet DEF, it would probably feel like a loss. Add the extra 52,000 mesos in ticket costs from all that traveling, and it feels even worse.

Wrapping Up

Personally, if I had gotten Overall DEX, INT, or Glove ATT/DEX, it would’ve been more of a profit than a loss. But of all things, I got Helmet DEF, so it feels like I came out a few ten-thousand mesos behind. If you’re planning to do this quest, I think reward luck really needs to be on your side too.

That was GameSky. Thanks for reading!
