Hello, adventurer~!

Have you been enjoying your life in Erinn wisely and well?

For beginner adventurers who aren’t familiar with Erinn terminology,

I wanted to go over some of the words commonly used in Erinn.

Even seasoned adventurers might run into terms they didn’t know or parts they found confusing, right?

So let’s take this chance to review them together!

*This post mentions lore from the original Mabinogi,

and it may indirectly spoil later Mabinogi Mobile story or content, so please keep that in mind~

Round 1

[ Erinn ]

This is the term used for the world of Mabinogi and Mabinogi Mobile.

Mabinogi Mobile hasn’t introduced any other lands yet,

but in the original Mabinogi, there’s another continent called Iria in addition to Uladh,

along with islands and other regions.

All of those lands together are called ‘Erinn.’

In the original Mabinogi, there were people searching for a paradise land,

and many were shocked to learn

that Erinn itself was actually that paradise land, known as ‘Tir Na Nog.’

In Mabinogi Mobile, Erinn is introduced as a world protected by the goddess Morrighan,

so let’s look forward to seeing what lore and stories unfold later on!

[ Human ]

While thinking about what word would pair well with the “-rinn” in Erinn, I chose “human.”

It’s not a term unique to Mabinogi, but it carries a pretty important meaning.

So far, Mabinogi Mobile still hasn’t gone into detail about “races.”

Meanwhile, the original game features a variety of races, along with stories that closely intertwine them.

In the original Mabinogi, there are three races—Human, Elf, and Giant—

and players can create characters from each race and adventure through Erinn.

Most likely, Elves and Giants will soon begin appearing in earnest in the main story of Mabinogi,

and it feels like we’ll get to hear more about their races too.

Also, I’m hoping that maybe our adventurer will be able to choose Elf or Giant

and reincarnate into one too~ hehe

[ Milletian? Adventurer? ]

I’ll wrap up the first round of word chain with Erinn and Human.

Before starting the next round, though, I thought these two terms were worth covering first,

so I picked “Milletian” and “Adventurer.”

Milletian is the term used for the player in the original Mabinogi,

and because it means “one who came from the stars,” it’s also referred to as the “morning star.”

The way players can revive even after death and take on many different forms through reincarnation

is reflected well in the traits of Milletians, making them seem like immortal beings within the game.

For now, let’s just understand it as the term used to identify players in the original Mabinogi.

In Mabinogi Mobile, the player character is called an “Adventurer.”

Many players familiar with the original Mabinogi were curious about this name.

Like... are we not Milletians, but some other kind of being?

At the moment, based on how the Mabinogi story is unfolding, it still hasn’t been clearly revealed what kind of being the player is.

So far, only small hints have been scattered around suggesting that we’re not just ordinary humans.

The residents of Erinn casually call the player “Adventurer,”

but who knows! Maybe later on, we’ll be called Milletians too?

[ Cichol ]

He’s one of the gods you naturally come to know as you adventure through Erinn.

He’s described as an “evil god” who attacked Erinn, the world protected by the goddess Morrighan.

He wears a pitch-black robe, and you can’t even make out the silhouette of his face.

That design really gives him the feeling of being something other than human.

It’s pretty interesting how clearly he contrasts with Morrighan, who loves humans, right?

But then his wings are pure white,

which makes for an especially striking contrast with the white angel wings we usually imagine.

Maybe it’s one way of showing that there’s no such thing as perfect good or perfect evil.

Cichol in the original Mabinogi also looks almost the same as he does in Mabinogi Mobile,

and he occupies an extremely important position.

This part will probably be explored as the story progresses in Mabinogi Mobile,

so I’ll leave it at that for now.

[ Holy Spear ]

When defeating the giant monster “Glas Ghaibhleann,” which Cichol had Maurus create,

the relic of the Apostolic See used by the adventurer brought down the “Holy Spear” to finish it off.

This technique is also one of the skills available to the “Priest” class.

The Apostolic See is hiding truly incredible power…! What kind of place could it be?

In Mabinogi Mobile, the Apostolic See is a group that serves a god called “Aton Cimeni,”

while churches are depicted as places that serve Morrighan.

You’ve probably heard imps saying things like “Whatever-cimeni~” while playing the game.

Or maybe you’ve seen an NPC with a line like, “Anyway, I don’t believe in Cimeni~” 😅

The being they’re referring to here is the god Aton Cimeni.

If you look into the original Mabinogi’s lore,

Aton Cimeni is described as the “Absolute God” or the “chief god,” so it may be easiest to think of that as the “Creator.”

It seems this setting also applies in Mabinogi Mobile,

so followers of the Apostolic See seem to say that any gods other than Aton Cimeni are lesser gods!

Let’s look forward to Mabinogi revealing more detailed stories about the gods later on too!

[ Abyss ]

It’s one of the essential weekly activities adventurers end up tackling regularly!

You can currently enter it through Barri Dungeon in Bangor Village.

There are Beginner, Hard, and Very Hard difficulties,

and the higher the difficulty you clear, the better rewards you’ll build up.

Unlike daily clear rewards, the rewards accumulated this way are settled and given out the following week.

Since Hell difficulty gives the same rewards as Very Hard difficulty,

there’s no need to force a clear unless you’re aiming for the ranking system through time attack.

No detailed story for this dungeon has been revealed yet,

but I’ve heard that a recently added book contains a story about Neberon.

According to that book, the boss of the Polluted Junkyard is actually…!

I’ll stay quiet here so you can enjoy discovering it for yourself!😆

I hope you collect the many books scattered across Erinn and take a little peek at the story behind the Abyss too~
