In this post, I’ll be using various terms and characters you can come across in MapleLand

to play a word-chain game and briefly explain each selected word.

(I had to really squeeze these out, so it took some effort.)

Alright, let’s get started right away!

MapleLand → ??

One of the best games created on the MapleStory Worlds platform,

it has now become one of the standout titles people think of when they hear “old Maple.”

Because it does such an excellent job of faithfully recreating the feel of that era,

it’s received a lot of love.

MapleLand 2.0 is scheduled to arrive as a new update soon, so

I’m looking forward to seeing some of the current issues improved

and to checking out the new content as well.

MapleLand → Drop Table

A list of items held by a specific monster,

usually called a “drop table” or “drop list.”

MapleLand isn’t just about the usual leveling process of hunting monsters for EXP.

Farming, where you hunt specific monsters for the items they carry, also

is an important part of the game.

However, since MapleLand does not officially provide drop tables,

they’re generally put together using players’ experience or older reference materials.

(You can’t really say they’re 100% accurate, but they do help.)

Drop Table → Bless

A buff skill that the Cleric class (2nd job magician) can learn,

it increases not just defense, but also accuracy, avoidability, and more.

(A fairy pouring something over your head)

Magician classes use it because it boosts defense,

but this skill really shines in a party with warrior classes.

Warrior classes are almost constantly short on accuracy,

so in most party hunts, including various carries and party runs, they often rely on the help of Bless.

Bless → Sma

Its full name is “Staff Magic Attack Scroll”,

a scroll that increases INT and magic attack for staff weapons.

※ Scroll names are often shortened like this,

Weapon type + Magic Attack / Attack + 60 / 10

being the usual format.

For example, if it’s Claw for ATT Scroll 60%,

it’s commonly shortened to Claw ATT 60.

Since it’s the only item that can enhance staff weapons,

countless magician players use it in hopes of making a stronger weapon.

Of course, with so many people raising magicians, there are already plenty of well-scrolled weapons out there, but..

there’s still nothing quite as fun as making one yourself.

Sma → Magatia

A town located in the Ariant area of the Nihal Desert region,

it features a dark nighttime backdrop that contrasts with Ariant, the bright sun-soaked desert town,

and it’s an alchemist town where alchemy research is actively carried out.

Players around Lv. 20 ~ 80 can enjoy this region pretty broadly, but

the real appeal of the area is

that as you work through the Magatia regional quests,

you get to unravel the hidden story behind the town and the Alchemist Association.

All of the quests in the Magatia area are directly or indirectly tied into a single story,

and because the story quality is excellent too,

it can genuinely make you feel like the protagonist of a mystery novel.

Magatia → Iron Hog

A pig monster wearing iron armor,

it’s one of those monsters players who’ve explored all around Victoria Island

probably never forgot.

It would occasionally spawn at the low-level hunting ground Pig Beach,

and since it was somehow level 42, just seeing it appear could throw people into full panic mode.

You were already busy enough hunting pig monsters for quests or leveling,

so I still remember half being chased out and hanging from a rope for an involuntary break.

Iron Hog → Green Valkyrie

A level 90 female warrior top item,

unlike Green Valkyrie and Dark Valkyrie,

it boosts DEX by as much as 5, making it a useful piece of gear for helping with low accuracy.

However, in MapleLand, the only scrolls currently usable on tops and bottoms

are defense scrolls, so it doesn’t see quite as much use.

Green Valkyrie → RebumMon

Its full name is “Level Range Monster”,

which refers to all monsters within the range of player level - 10 to + 10.

However, if the player is level 80 or above,

all monsters level 70 and above are recognized as Level Range Monsters.

You’ll often run into these Level Range Monsters as clear conditions for event quests, so

it’s a good idea to get familiar in advance with the term and which monsters fall under it.

RebumMon → Monster Carnival

A hunting mode commonly called “Monka” or “Monpa”,

you hunt monsters that spawn in the field to build up CP,

then use it to summon monsters for the opposing party in a pretty unique system.

The only recovery items you can use are the ones obtained from hunting monsters,

and the monsters are also tougher than those in normal hunting grounds, but

you can earn a huge amount of EXP,

and it lets you keep up focused hunting without much hassle,

so for players in the level 30 ~ 50 range, it has practically become essential.

On top of that, with the Maple Coin earned as a reward,

you can also obtain Spiegelmann’s Necklace,

which is useful to wear until you get Horntail’s Necklace,

so if possible, I’d definitely recommend giving Monster Carnival a try.

So that was my attempt at doing a word-chain game with MapleLand

while also taking some time to go over the terms.

At the end, I actually wanted to wrap it up with Blue Mushmom, which is basically a one-shot word,

so it’s a little unfortunate that it ended on “bal” instead.

Still, I hope looking through these different terms

gives you something useful to reference while playing the game.!
