Today, I want to share what brought me back to Blue Archive

as a returning player after a 1-year break.

My all-time favorite anime-style game…

So why did I quit?

I started playing Blue Archive on November 9, 2021,

the day it launched in Korea.

Back then, Hibiki, Iori, Shun, and Haruna

were known as the big 3 or big 4,

so I spent plenty of time rerolling to get them.

For me, Blue Archive's appeal lies less in its combat

than in collecting students with charming personalities

and enjoying its story.

From chatting with characters through MomoTalk

to immersive stories exploring all sorts of themes,

few games offer quite the same kind of enjoyment as Blue Archive.

But Blue Archive's endgame

was a mode called Total Assault, where you take down powerful bosses.

I earned Platinum, the highest rank, in Season 1,

and tried to keep that streak going in every Total Assault after that.

The community has a tradition of calling players who earn Platinum in every Total Assault

“pureblood Platinums.”

It's a mark of both their hard work and their love for the game,

and even Executive Producer Kim Yong-ha respects that dedication.

But after a few years of keeping that up, modes like Total Assault and Grand Assault

started to feel increasingly stressful.

Eventually, I missed Platinum once and lost my pureblood status,

and that was when I put the game down.

What brought me back?

The first—and biggest—reason was

the Fest Recruitment event I'd long been looking forward to.

Fest Recruitment gives you much better odds of pulling a 3-star,

and usually features powerful anniversary characters on rate-up.

So I logged in around the middle of this year and pulled Rio,

and this time, I got the swimsuit versions of Mika, Nagisa, and Seia.

Second, I changed my approach to the endgame.

Since I wasn't a pureblood Platinum anymore anyway,

I decided, “Let's just aim for Gold.”

Honestly, the rewards for Platinum and Gold

aren't all that different, aside from the prestige.

There are plenty of spots in Gold, so it's fairly easy to reach,

which is why its players are nicknamed the “honey-pot club.”

Once I changed my mindset, simply logging in regularly

was enough to let me pull and build whichever characters I wanted—

I'd found my anime-style gaming paradise.

I enjoy new stories as they come out,

and otherwise just pop in for my daily login and spend my AP,

keeping things relaxed.

So that's the story of why I took a break from Blue Archive

and came back after 1 year.

With a steady stream of events every month,

Blue Archive lets you pull the characters you want

as long as you keep playing regularly.
