Hello,
I’m Jaymer, currently active as a Nexon Picker 😊
If I had to pick one of the most eye-catching new releases on Steam lately, it’d absolutely be ARC Raiders!
It’s an extraction shooter game developed by Embark Studios, a Nexon subsidiary.
Honestly, it really gave me that feeling of, “Wow, it’s been a while since we got a game this solid.”
The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by robots called “ARC,” and you play as a “Raider” trying to survive on a ruined Earth!
Since extraction shooters are still a pretty unfamiliar genre for some people, I put together a basic guide today with tips that’ll really help any newbie get started.
(There’s also a Nexon Cash giveaway event at the very bottom of this post, so make sure you join!!)

What Is an Extraction Shooter?
Put simply, the extraction shooter genre is all about looting, fighting, and getting out alive.
You grab loot on the battlefield, fight other players (Raiders) or ARC enemies (monsters), and only if you successfully extract at the end do you actually keep your items. If you fail, you lose everything.
That’s probably why every match feels so insanely thrilling! Compared to Escape from Tarkov, which is in the same genre, the barrier to entry feels lower here, so even first-time players should be able to get used to it pretty fast.
Battlefields & Loadout Introduction
There are currently five revealed maps: Dam, Buried City, Space Base, Blue Gate, and Stella Montis.
At the very beginning, only Dam is unlocked. It’s easy to learn farming routes there, and the engagement points are pretty clear, so it shouldn’t be too hard.
Before deployment, you’ll put together a loadout that includes weapons, healing items, and more.
Since the gear you bring only stays with you if you successfully extract, I’d recommend getting a feel for the game with a free loadout early on. Even if you die, there’s no loss, so it’s a lot less stressful.
*As a side note, if you’re bringing valuable items in your loadout, it’s a really good idea to make sure you have a “Safe Pocket.”
That way, you won’t lose some of your items even if you die!
I went out fully geared at first too, ran into another player right away, and lost everything..!
Farming & Combat Guide
When you enter the battlefield, you’ll spawn at a random location. The first thing you should do is check the map. You want to identify the main farming areas fast so you don’t waste time on your route.
Once you reach a farming spot, you’ll find all kinds of loot containers there. Search everything carefully and grab what you can!
And honestly, ARC, the monster enemies, can be even more dangerous than other players. Their attack patterns are varied, so if you just rush in blindly, you can absolutely get taken out.
If you’re carrying a lot of loot, I found it’s better to focus on survival by moving around cover, staying hidden, and avoiding unnecessary fights.
You can also get great loot by taking down ARC, so definitely try aiming for their weak points!
How Do You Extract?
Once you’re done farming, it’s time to extract.
You can get out through the cargo elevator or the Raider hatch marked on the map.
The cargo elevator triggers a siren when you call it, which makes ARC swarm in. If you quickly get into the elevator and activate the device, you can head back to Speranza fast.
On the other hand, the Raider hatch can only be opened if you have a specific item.
Since all the loot you’ve gathered is on the line, extraction honestly ends up being the most nerve-wracking part.
Post-Battle Rewards & Growth!
Such a satisfying moment!
If you successfully extract, the items you picked up during the run get cashed out.
You can use those resources to craft or upgrade gear.
With different variables and battlefields every match, it never really got boring!
You can also improve your skills as you level up, so it feels like a great game to grow into at your own pace.
The signature tension of an extraction shooter, the grounded combat, and that mix of teamwork and betrayal make this game seriously addictive!
Nexon’s new challenge really seems to be landing well, so I’m definitely looking forward to future updates too.
I hope you all jump into the battlefield yourselves and try becoming Raiders too!
