2 Netflix Anime Recommendations to Watch While Farming in MapleStory

This post was created as part of Nexon PEAK activities.

Hello!

I'm Nexon Picker 피스타임.

Looking for anime to watch while farming in MapleStory? Two recommendations are Chiikawa and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Chiikawa offers easy viewing with short episodes and minimal dialogue, while Cyberpunk: Edgerunners breaks up the monotony of grinding with an outstanding story and striking visuals.

Sol Janus and the convenience features of vac pets have made grinding in MapleStory much easier than it used to be. As a regular Netflix viewer, I often watch anime during farming sessions.

This article takes a look at how grinding in MapleStory has changed, then introduces two Netflix anime series worth watching while farming.

3. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners — An Immersive Anime

1. Why Anime Pairs Well with Farming in MapleStory

MapleStory is an online RPG where developing your character requires regular grinding. After the 6th Job Advancement, you need Sol Erda and Sol Erda Fragments as well as EXP, making farming a common part of progression.

In the past, you had to travel across the entire map to defeat monsters, then collect the mesos and items they dropped yourself. That left little room to look away from the game screen while grinding.

※ Farming, or “jaehoek”: “Jaehoek” is a Korean abbreviation for “Wealth Acquisition Potion,” a consumable that increases meso acquisition and item drop rates. In MapleStory, the term also refers to grinding for a set amount of time while using this potion.

However, the addition of Sol Janus has significantly changed how players grind. Sol Janus: Dawn lets you place rings of the cycle that attack nearby monsters, allowing you to grind in one spot depending on your class and map.

Adding vac pets makes grinding even more convenient. These pets automatically collect nearby items, and recently added convenience features offer further benefits depending on how many you own and which ones you have equipped.

Luna Gathering: Collects all dropped items on the map at once

Luna Extension: Extends the duration of Sol Janus: Dawn

Luna Power Up: Increases Attack Power and Magic ATT by 30

Owning 4 vac pets makes it possible to grind in one spot with Sol Janus: Dusk. The 5-pet effect also extends the duration of Sol Janus: Dawn, letting you stay in one spot on an even wider range of maps. It is a considerable improvement over having to move across the entire map to grind.

These changes do not let you leave the game completely unattended, but they do make it easier to watch anime on another screen while playing MapleStory.

Which anime works well alongside a farming session? Here are two recommendations.

2. Chiikawa: Short, Easy Viewing

The first recommendation is Chiikawa, an anime following the daily lives of cute characters such as Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi. Its charming art style contrasts with the unexpected events that sometimes unfold, giving the series a distinctive appeal.

What makes Chiikawa particularly well suited to farming sessions is its short episodes and minimal dialogue. Each episode runs just a few minutes, so it is easy to watch without a major time commitment. Stories often unfold through the characters’ actions and situations rather than complex explanations.

That makes the series easy to follow even if you miss a moment while focusing on grinding. There is also a simple pleasure in watching its cute characters go about their activities.

It is an especially good choice for players who spend around 30 minutes a day doing some light farming. That can be an awkward window for a longer anime episode, but it leaves enough time to enjoy several episodes of Chiikawa while grinding.

If you prefer a few laughs and a chance to unwind over following a complicated story while farming, Chiikawa is well worth a look.

3. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners — An Immersive Anime

The second recommendation is Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Set in the universe of the game Cyberpunk 2077, it follows people living in Night City, a futuristic metropolis ruled by megacorporations.

It ranks among the anime I have enjoyed most on Netflix. At just 10 episodes, it is a relatively short series, but it delivers distinctive characters, intense action, and an engrossing story.

Cyberpunk’s signature vibrant visuals and music are particular highlights. It is a strong choice for anyone looking for anime to accompany long farming sessions in MapleStory.

Unlike Chiikawa, however, its story is absorbing enough that key scenes may draw your attention away from grinding. For a first viewing, it is best to use a setup that lets you grind in one spot.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 was also released recently. I found it somewhat disappointing compared with the outstanding season 1.

It had fewer action scenes than I expected, and its story did not leave as strong an impression as its predecessor. Still, Cyberpunk’s distinctive atmosphere remains intact.

In some ways, season 2 was actually easier to watch while farming, without needing to pay close attention. If you enjoyed season 1 and want more stories from Night City, it is worth considering.

These two Netflix anime series offer different ways to enjoy farming in MapleStory. Choose Chiikawa for lighthearted laughs while grinding, or Cyberpunk: Edgerunners for an immersive story during longer sessions.
