[Mabinogi Mobile] Click! Bring Good Manners to the Game with Quick Chat

This post was created as part of Nexon PEAK activities.

Hello, I'm 이호, an adventurer living in Erinn!

New to playing in a party in RPGs? (I was too.)

I'd recommend starting with “Thank you” when someone shares food with you, and “Thanks for the run” after a battle. Simply thanking the people you fought alongside and acknowledging the food they shared gets you halfway there when it comes to party etiquette!

Do you have to type that out every time? Mabinogi Mobile has a handy “Quick Chat” feature for moments like these. Just choose from the phrases that appear for your current situation to send a quick message!

I'll get into the details shortly, but you can customize Quick Chat too! I've had a few unexpected replies that left me chuckling to myself. A simple greeting goes a long way toward good manners—and that's what I'd like to talk about today!

Mabinogi Mobile has a feature called “Chance Encounter.” It brings you together with other players to tackle content through a system that matches people with similar Combat Power who are playing at the same time.

You can use this system to party up for regular dungeons, deep dungeons, Abyss, and raids. In fact, it's how most players tackle this content. And Abyss and raids match players across multiple servers to enter together, so you can play with people from other servers too!

(In the image on the left, Chance Encounter is disabled because Magic Resistance is too low.)

If you're trying Abyss or raids for the first time, make sure Play Together is selected at the top, then choose your content and difficulty and check the Chance Encounter option.

You'll need to check availability and requirements for each type of content and difficulty separately. Look at the entry screen to see whether Chance Encounter is enabled. It's only available when you're above both the recommended Combat Power and recommended Magic Resistance.

You can also find a party through the party board, but if you're new to Mabinogi Mobile, this is a great way to get started with party play!

You can use Quick Chat in specific situations, such as when you join a party, receive food at a campfire, or clear Abyss or a raid. Open the chat window at those moments, and you can choose an appropriate message to send.

You can turn it on or off under [Menu (≡)] → [Settings] → [Community] → [Use Quick Chat]. What I find so useful is that the phrases fit the situation. You can pick a thank-you message when you receive food, or a message to wrap things up after a battle!

And there's one more thing!

You can make the messages sound like you.

Depending on the situation, you can edit or delete anywhere from 1 to 3 Quick Chat messages. You're not limited to the preset replies—you can customize them to say what you want.

For example, you could change your thank-you message to “This looks delicious. Thank you!” or set your end-of-battle message to “Thanks for joining me!” These are just examples if you're not sure what to write. Most people stick with “Thank you” and “Thanks for the run.”

A simple thank-you gets the message across perfectly well. Still, there's one reply I received that really stuck with me.

I was doing an Abyss run and sharing food with the others at a campfire. Someone sent this reply through what I think was Quick Chat.

“Omnomnommunchmunchsotashteee~”

I don't remember the exact wording, but it was something like that—a reply that made it sound like they were really enjoying the food.

I served up a meal, and got a reply that practically smacked its lips. I couldn't help laughing to myself.

I really like being able to make Quick Chat sound like me. Sometimes you want to say the same thank-you, just with a little more fun!

If someone shares food with you, a quick “Thank you” is usually all you need. You can also prepare a message that suits your style, but don't feel you have to come up with something funny.

With Chance Encounter, you'll sometimes end up in a group of beginners or alternate characters, fighting tooth and nail to get through. I've been in those battles myself.

When 에이렐 Hard first came out, I once fought for 20 minutes before clearing it. Considering I now clear it in around 3 minutes with the same character, that seems like an absurdly long time.

When we finally finished and everyone exchanged a “Thanks for the run,” I remember thinking:

This is what gaming is all about.

It was quite a while ago, but I'll never forget those messages after that grueling 20-minute fight. It's a short phrase you might use on any run, but after fighting together for so long, it felt especially heartfelt that day.

You don't have to force yourself to keep the conversation flowing in a party right from the start. Begin with the greetings I've shared today, and you're already halfway there with party etiquette!

  • If someone shares food with you at a campfire: Say “Thank you” to the person who prepared it.

  • If you've finished a battle together: Say “Thanks for the run” to the people who fought alongside you.

Of course, these two phrases won't cover all the preparation and communication that cooperative play requires. As you tackle harder content, you'll have more to coordinate and talk through, all while being considerate of each other!

Today, I've shared some party etiquette you can put into practice right away, even if party play is new to you. If you'd like to write your own messages, choose wording that sounds like you and makes your meaning clear to others!

That witty reply after a meal and the messages we exchanged after a 20-minute battle have both stayed with me. Those little exchanges with adventurers you happen to meet are what make party play in Mabinogi Mobile feel so warm and welcoming—and that's the side of it I wanted to share with you!
