A Game I Am Looking Forward To: [DNF Classic] — Scheduled for 2027

A classic version of DNF A standalone client, rather than a game hosted on MapleStory Worlds as other classic games are Reportedly being developed using the 2009 2nd Impact version as its basis |

The upcoming release I am personally looking forward to is DNF Classic, reportedly scheduled for 2027. Following the success of classic games such as Mapleland, there seemed to be plenty of rumors about a classic version of DNF. With no further news, I had largely forgotten about it, so I was pleased to look it up and find that it really is coming next year.

The release will reportedly be based on this update from 2009, a period when DNF was apparently hugely successful in both Korea and China. I had expected a classic version of DNF to use a slightly earlier build. However, those earlier versions were extremely difficult and short on content, so the choice is said to reflect a balance of broad appeal and convenience. It will also have its own client rather than run within MapleStory Worlds, which I think should make it a little more stable.

Mapleland has reportedly already reached its 3rd anniversary—an impressive achievement in many ways. My memories of the original are a large part of why I am looking forward to DNF Classic, and I hope it enjoys a similarly long run.
Thank you for reading.
