Mabinogi Mobile Party Etiquette: Going AFK in Raids and Using Assist—At Least Get the Basics Right!

Hello, I'm 껑이, a gaming blogger.
What matters most when it comes to party etiquette?
For me, it comes down to not causing problems for other party members and respecting the time of the people you play with.
When raiding in Mabinogi Mobile, there are moments when basic gaming etiquette feels more important than skill.
Frankly, I cannot stand players who enter a raid, turn on Assist Mode, and go AFK.
I've even seen players crafting inside a raid—something completely unrelated to the fight.
When this happens, the difficulty of the fight stops being my main concern. Instead, I start wondering whether they intend to play with the group at all.
Today, I'll go through party etiquette and co-op tips based on my own experiences raiding in Mabinogi Mobile.
Let's take a closer look.
Mabinogi Mobile Raid Basics
Mabinogi Mobile offers a range of cooperative content, including dungeons, the Abyss, and raids.
Raids let up to 8 players form a single party to take on the challenge together.
When you join a raid, you first gather on the Starting Deck.
Here, you can repair your equipment and buy any items you need, then set sail once everyone is ready.
Once the boss fight begins, everyone needs to focus on dealing damage and staying alive. The party shares a limited number of revives, so every party member needs to contribute to the fight.
Of course, not everyone is an experienced raider.
Some players may not know the mechanics well or may have low Combat Power. Mistakes on a first attempt are entirely understandable, too.
Those differences in skill are not what bother me.
The problem, in my view, is agreeing to raid together, then showing no interest in the fight itself.
Bad Etiquette I've Encountered in Mabinogi Mobile Raids
I've had some frustrating experiences with party members while playing Mabinogi Mobile.
Two examples in particular stand out.
1. Players Who Turn On Assist Mode and Go AFK
Among the raid players I find most frustrating are those who simply turn on Assist Mode and effectively go AFK.
Mabinogi Mobile has an Assist Mode that helps with combat.
I have no issue with the feature itself. It is built into the game, and it can be useful in the right circumstances.
But raiding is not the same as grinding solo with auto-combat running.
You need to dodge the boss's attacks and move manually when the situation calls for it.
Seeing someone behave this way in a raid genuinely disgusts me.
There is nothing wrong with making the game more convenient to play, but other party members should not have to shoulder the burden of that convenience.
Mabinogi Mobile also offers challenge rules that let you select No Assist when creating a party.
If players have different preferences about Assist Mode, this feature can help you put together a party with shared expectations.
2. Players Who Craft During a Raid
Going AFK with Assist Mode on was bad enough, but I also witnessed something I found even harder to understand.
That was a player crafting inside a raid.
At first, I was taken aback.
Several people had set aside time to take down a boss together. I could not understand why someone would join them only to do something else entirely.
It is fine if you struggle with combat.
I can understand dying because you don't know the mechanics.
But that understanding only goes so far. Joining a raid and then going AFK or crafting instead of fighting is another matter entirely.
Frankly, I find that disregard for even the most basic gaming etiquette appalling.
3. Don't Confuse Beginner Mistakes with Bad Etiquette
Anyone can make mistakes on their first attempt at a raid.
Leveling several classes myself has shown me how differently each one fights and handles.
I also reached a combined class level of 675 in Mabinogi Mobile, earning the Versatile title.
That experience makes me reluctant to criticize players simply because they are still finding their footing.
What matters to me is a willingness to contribute to the fight.
There is a clear difference between someone who makes mistakes but keeps trying and someone who leaves everything to the rest of the party from the outset.
I would much rather play with party members who make an effort, even if their Combat Power is a little lower.
Mabinogi Mobile Party Etiquette and Co-op Tips
Here is a checklist of the party etiquette I consider important.
Raid Checklist
Check the raid entry requirements and the group's stated goals
Repair your equipment and prepare the items you need
Finish crafting or other content beforehand
Tell your party members if you need to step away briefly
Make sure everyone is ready before setting off
Above all, every party member needs to show a willingness to contribute to the fight.
Using Assist Mode is a different matter if you are still paying attention and acting when needed.
Working out what helps your party isn't difficult.
Ultimately, you only need to stop and ask yourself, “Are my actions making things difficult for other people?”
If you are new to raids, I recommend focusing on learning the mechanics and staying alive rather than pushing for high damage right away.
I can fully understand mistakes from first-time raiders. What I want to see change is players joining without any intention of cooperating.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q. Is using Assist Mode in Mabinogi Mobile raids bad etiquette?
A. Using Assist Mode is not bad etiquette in itself. However, joining a raid and going AFK without paying attention to the fight can put a burden on other party members.
Q. Are there parties where Assist Mode cannot be used?
A. Yes. Parties using challenge rules can enable the No Assist setting. Check the group's requirements before joining.
Q. Is it okay to do other content during a raid?
A. I consider staying focused on the raid while fighting a boss together to be basic etiquette. Non-urgent tasks, such as crafting or organizing equipment, are best handled before or after combat.
Q. Does making a mistake in a raid mean I have bad etiquette?
A. No. Making a mistake because you don't know the mechanics is different from deliberately refusing to participate in combat. What matters after a mistake is being willing to improve on the next attempt.
Q. What is the most important tip for beginners joining a raid?
A. I recommend checking the party's goals, learning the basic boss mechanics, and telling the group beforehand if there is anything you don't understand. You don't need to play as well as an experienced raider, but you do need to be willing to cooperate.
Frankly, seeing players turn on Assist Mode and go AFK during raids—or craft in the middle of combat—is deeply frustrating.
I can accept differences in skill and unfamiliarity with the mechanics. What I struggle to accept is the attitude that everyone else in the party should do everything for you.
