Mabinogi Mobile X JUJUTSU KAISEN, 【OSHI NO KO】: Binge-Watch While You Wait for the Collabs!

This post was created as part of Nexon's PEAK activities.

Game and anime collaborations seem to be everywhere lately.
Overwatch has teamed up with One-Punch Man, My Hero Academia, and Solo Leveling,
while ZEPETO has featured series like Attack on Titan and Oshi no Ko.
I spend more time playing games than watching anime,
but a game collaboration will sometimes inspire me to check out a series.
Now, Mabinogi Mobile is joining in, with
a JUJUTSU KAISEN collaboration scheduled for November 5 on its Korean servers,
and an Oshi no Ko collaboration starting on November 4 on its Japanese servers.
With those on the way, I'd like to introduce two anime series
to enjoy alongside Mabinogi Mobile.
🎮 Can a Game Collaboration Get You into Anime?

I spend more time playing games than watching anime,
but game collaborations sometimes inspire me to give a series a try.

I've always been interested in character customization and fashion items,
so if I like a collaboration outfit, I'll buy it even if I don't know the anime.
Then I start wondering who wears that outfit
and what kind of story they're part of.

That's how I ended up watching One-Punch Man after its Overwatch collaboration,
and I checked out Attack on Titan when it teamed up with ZEPETO, too.
This time, news of the Mabinogi collaboration got me watching JUJUTSU KAISEN again.
👻 JUJUTSU KAISEN: Binge the Anime While You Wait for the Collaboration!

JUJUTSU KAISEN is an action anime about curses born from negative human emotions
and the jujutsu sorcerers who fight to exorcise them.

The protagonist, Yuji Itadori, is drawn into the world of jujutsu sorcerers after getting caught up in an incident involving curses,
and joins his companions in the fight against them.

I actually dropped JUJUTSU KAISEN partway through the first time I watched it.

I was watching episodes I'd downloaded to my phone on a long-haul flight,
but I could barely hear the audio and was so sleepy that I kept nodding off.
Unsurprisingly, I struggled to follow the story,
and eventually stopped watching because I wasn't enjoying it.

This collaboration prompted me to give it another try,
and a friend who's a JUJUTSU KAISEN fan suggested starting with the movie, JUJUTSU KAISEN 0.

They explained that the movie takes place before the main series,
and gives more screen time to Toge, a character I'd liked before,
so they thought I'd enjoy it.

I took their advice, watched the movie first, and then started the main series...
Wait, this is actually fun! ㅋㅋㅋ
Now I'm not sure whether I really found the anime uninteresting before,
or whether I was just too sleepy.

I'd recommend watching JUJUTSU KAISEN while using up your daily Silver Coins
or Fomor Offerings in Mabinogi Mobile.
A typical episode runs about 24 minutes,
which should make it a good fit for watching while your character
auto-battles in dungeons or hunting grounds that support auto-play.
Since action is such a big part of the series, though,
it's worth giving the anime your full attention during its fight scenes.
The movie JUJUTSU KAISEN 0 runs about 105 minutes,
so I'd recommend setting aside some time to watch it on its own.
🎀 Oshi no Ko: An Idol Concert in Dunbarton? What's Going On?

My second recommendation is Oshi no Ko.

Oshi no Ko follows people working in the entertainment industry,
including idols and actors.
It goes beyond their idol careers to explore the industry's darker side and the secrets the characters keep,
with suspense woven into the story.

The story begins when Goro, a doctor working in a rural area,
finds himself treating Ai, the idol he's been cheering on.

I've watched this series once before,
and now Mabinogi Mobile's Japanese servers
are getting a collaboration that runs from November 4 to December 16.

A look at the dedicated official page revealed
a variety of rewards, including Yoto High School uniforms from the series,
character dioramas, posters, and wotagei actions.

There's also an event where players collect support points
to help B-Komachi perform on bigger stages,
with Dunbarton's outdoor theater as the final goal.
Cheering on idols in Erinn—imagine that!

An Oshi no Ko collaboration hasn't been confirmed for the Korean servers yet,
but I'm hoping the fashion items and motions revealed for the Japanese servers
will make their way to Korea, too.

I'd recommend watching Oshi no Ko alongside Mabinogi Mobile's life-skill activities,
such as fishing or decorating My Home.
A typical episode runs about 24 minutes,
so it should pair well with activities
that involve some waiting, like fishing.
Still, character dialogue and plot developments are central to this series,
so I'd give it your full attention if you're watching for the first time.
In particular, episode 1 of season 1 runs about 82 minutes, so set aside some time for that one!

Waiting for the Mabinogi Mobile collaboration got me watching JUJUTSU KAISEN again,
and my friend's suggestion to start with the movie helped me enjoy it this time around.
Now I'm looking forward to the November 5 collaboration even more.
I'm especially curious whether we'll see any items related to Toge, a character I've liked for a while.
There's still no news of an Oshi no Ko collaboration in Korea,
but the items revealed for the Japanese servers have me hoping they'll come to Korea, too.
If, like me, you usually spend more time playing games than watching anime,
these collaborations could be a good reason to give both series a try.
