This post was created as part of NEXON PEAK activities.

Choosing a nickname is where most people get stuck when starting a game, especially in popular games like MapleStory.

With so many nicknames already in use, finding one can take a long time.

MapleStory limits Korean nicknames to 6 characters, leaving even fewer options available.

I don't want to spend too much time choosing nicknames for new characters every time a Challengers server opens.

To save time, I use the following methods.

◆ Use lyrics from a favorite song

Try using words from a favorite song's lyrics as your nickname.

One of my favorite songs is Sung Si Kyung - Every Moment of You.

My favorite line from it is “Because watching you is what love means to me.”

So I named one of my Legion characters WatchingYou.

◆ Use memorable words from different media

One episode of the Fullmetal Alchemist anime left a strong impression on me. In it, an enemy asks Al, “How do you know you aren't an artificial human your brother created?” Al starts questioning his identity, wondering whether his memories of once being a real human might be false. He then gets into a heated argument with Ed. Winry, who has come to repair the automail, scolds Al, saying, “What kind of idiot would risk his own life to make a fake little brother?” She then sends Al to Ed, and the two make up.

That episode was called Fabricated Memories, so I used its title as a nickname for one of my Legion characters.

At the time, I was a Faker fan and an avid T1 supporter.

This Worlds teaser stood out to me, and I still go back and watch it occasionally.

I particularly liked the phrase “Break through or fall apart” from the teaser.

So I used it as a nickname for one of my Legion characters.
