[Mabinogi Mobile] Essential Etiquette Guide for Party and Co-op Play in Mabinogi Mobile

We often play games alone, but we also spend plenty of time teaming up with other players. Party or co-op play comes with a few extra considerations. When we play together, we cannot always approach things the way we would on our own. After all, if a game calls for cooperation, it likely has roles that someone needs to fill. With that in mind, here are three etiquette tips for playing together.

Greetings are a basic courtesy

A simple “Hello,” “Thank you,” or “Good work” helps put everyone at ease.

Greeting someone is a nice gesture even in a chance encounter. When you form a party and agree to play together, though, I consider it a basic courtesy. It may seem like a small thing, but a simple “Hello” or “Welcome” can set a friendlier tone. Mabinogi Mobile has a quick message feature to help with this. Go to Settings > Community to find the quick chat option, where you can customize messages for up to three situations: joining a party, receiving camp sharing, and clearing an Abyss or raid. Making a point of using quick chat in at least these three situations can make party play more welcoming and enjoyable.

Do your part

Bring your own potions and take care to handle mechanics properly.

For party content such as an Abyss or raid, you need to bring your own supplies, including potions and bandages. Mabinogi Mobile does not allow trading between players, so another party member cannot supply anything you forget. Before playing with a party, check that you have the items you need, your equipment is fully repaired, and any curses have been removed.

Party or co-op play can also mean that each player has a specific role. Parties often consist of tanks, damage dealers, and healers, so focus on what you do well. A run goes more smoothly when everyone handles their own tasks properly. Your approach may also vary depending on your class. Rather than leaving mechanics to other party members, pay attention to your own play so you can handle them yourself. Everyone joins a party to work toward a shared goal. The second etiquette tip is therefore to carry out your responsibilities instead of passing them on to others.

Avoid careless criticism

A few words can settle a debt of a thousand nyang—or create a debt of ten thousand.

The third and final etiquette tip is to avoid careless criticism. When people tackle content together, some attempts go smoothly and others do not. There are many possible reasons: too little damage or healing, trouble with mechanics, or someone making a mistake. Feeling angry or frustrated is understandable, but harsh words will not help. A more effective approach is to discuss what went wrong and find a solution together, or explain anything another player seems unsure about.

If you are struggling with something or do not understand it, taking the initiative to ask is a good idea, too. After all, everyone is there to achieve the same goal. Harsh responses and criticism only sour the atmosphere. There is no need to turn a shared session into an unpleasant experience that leaves people upset instead of enjoying themselves.

Although I have shared three etiquette tips for party or co-op play, they come down to one principle: playing with other people calls for courtesy and good manners. We see characters on a screen, but behind each one is a person just like us. It is easy to forget that when we are absorbed in a game. Keeping it in mind, treating one another with respect, and aiming to enjoy the game together can make gaming more enjoyable for everyone.
