Hello, I'm 껑이, a gaming blogger.
When you first start playing FC Online, the in-game abbreviations and system terminology can be more confusing than the rules of football. Learning squad-building terms such as BP, salary, and Team Color, along with expressions like “peoteo” and “kikeon,” makes guides easier to follow. Taking advantage of the current new and returning player event can also make building your first team much easier.
In this post, I'll explain the football game abbreviations and beginner terms that new FC Online players often encounter, along with events worth checking out if you're just getting started.
Let's take a closer look.
Basic FC Online Terminology
When building your first team, it helps to start with these five terms: BP, salary, OVR, enhancement, and Team Color.
|
Term |
Meaning |
|
BP |
The in-game currency used to buy and sell players |
|
Salary |
A value assigned to each player that counts toward your squad's salary cap |
|
OVR |
A player's overall rating |
|
Enhancement |
A system for increasing a player's enhancement level |
|
Team Color |
Bonuses earned by fielding players from a particular team or players who meet specific conditions |
One term that beginners find particularly confusing is salary.
Simply filling your squad with good players is not always the best approach.
Every player has a salary value, and you need to fit 11 players within a set total salary cap. If you allocate a large portion to forwards and midfielders, you'll need to balance the squad by choosing lower-salary fullbacks or a lower-salary goalkeeper.
That is why having plenty of BP does not automatically give you a good team.
You also need to consider Team Color bonuses.
Rather than choosing players solely because they're your favorites, you can earn Team Color bonuses by fielding players who have played for the same club, such as Real Madrid or Bayern Munich.
If you're just starting out, I recommend deciding which Team Color to build your squad around before looking at player prices.
How to Plan Your Salary Budget with FC Online's Squad Maker
Before buying any players, I recommend planning your team in Squad Maker so you can work out its salary, formation, and Team Color.
Go to Data Center → Squad Maker on the official FC Online website to build a squad and arrange the players yourself.
Start by choosing one Team Color based on your favorite team or players.
For example, if you want to build a Real Madrid squad, add Real Madrid players in Squad Maker and set up your formation.
Choosing the most expensive player for every position right away may leave you short on salary budget.
I recommend setting priorities.
1st priority: Key attacking players, such as ST, CAM, and wingers
2nd priority: Key midfield players, such as CM and CDM
3rd priority: CB
Then choose your fullbacks and goalkeeper to fit the remaining salary budget.
For example, if you've allocated a large share of your salary budget to three forwards, choose relatively low-salary players at LB, RB, or GK to balance the squad.
Another useful feature is Squad Feed.
Squad Feed lets you search for other users' squads.
You can also load a squad you like into Squad Maker and edit it yourself. If you're a beginner, rather than trying to build the ideal squad from scratch, I recommend this approach: search for your preferred Team Color → look at other users' squads → adjust a squad to fit your BP and salary budget.
Building a team this way helps you see how BP, salary, Team Color, and positions all fit together.
Football Game Terms: What Peoteo, Kikeon, and Chimtu Mean
Once you start playing matches, you'll encounter another set of football game terms.
These include gameplay terms such as chimtu, peoteo, and kikeon.
First, let's look at peoteo.
Peoteo is common Korean shorthand for the training coach trait “Immediate Movement After First Touch.”
It is often used to move forward quickly just after receiving a pass.
Next is kikeon.
Kikeon is common Korean shorthand for goalkeeper control. It means manually adjusting your goalkeeper's position before an opponent takes a shot.
Chimtu means an attacking run into the space behind the opposing defenders.
Combining these runs with through passes makes it easier to create one-on-one situations with the goalkeeper.
Here are a few other expressions you'll often see.
Two-footed describes a player who can reliably use both feet, while weak foot refers to their non-dominant foot.
Gamcha is shorthand for a finesse shot, while long-range shot means a shot taken from outside the penalty box.
Guides often use unfamiliar terms, so learning this vocabulary makes them much easier to follow.
Events Worth Checking Out for FC Online Beginners
If you're a new or returning FC Online player, check the current events rather than focusing only on learning the terminology.
The official website currently features the “Get 2,500 FC just by logging in! Invite friends for assist rewards too!” new and returning player event.
The event runs from September 10 to October 28, 2026.
You can receive 2,500 FC by logging in on 5 days during the event. Other rewards include additional FC for inviting friends and a Guaranteed +11 Player Pack (Limited Player Pool).
The Autumn Yellow Ginkgo Login Event also runs until October 28 at 11:59 p.m.
You can receive 10 Autumn Yellow Ginkgo items for every 30 minutes spent logged in and exchange the items you collect for various rewards in the in-game shop.
For beginners in particular, I recommend using the players and BP earned from events to complete a squad with one Team Color first rather than buying expensive players right away.
Most of the current login and play events also end around October 28, so check their closing times before participating.
The official event list also includes ongoing daily play, special login, and PC café login events.
