MapleStory’s October Seasonal Events: A Good Time to Ease Back In

This post was created as part of NEXON PEAK activities.

Hello everyone.

With exam season coming to an end, some of you may be looking for a game to play. For returning players who have been too busy to keep up, here is a quick look at the events currently running in MapleStory this October.

Is this a good time to return?

The October update went live last Thursday, bringing the second update for Visitors to the Argo. December is still the better time to get fully back into the game, but if you are planning to return then, there are a few smaller events worth taking part in now.

[Get a Hyper Burning Booster!]

ASDF_00000

First up is a Hyper Burning Booster you can claim once per Maple ID. It offers a 1+4 leveling effect up to level 260, making it useful for raising your Legion level. There is plenty of time to take advantage of it, as the event runs through December.

[Visitors to the Argo] Check-In and Hunting Events

The main check-in event and stat buff event are also underway. As mentioned, we are already in the second update period. With 3 weeks left, the rewards are not particularly appealing unless you buy the pass, though the chance to earn 15,000 coins for the Coin Shop is a plus.

The Magnifying Glass event also offers rewards for hunting. The magnifying glasses act as booster items: monsters near your level drop Suspicious Magnifying Glasses, which you can use 10 times daily per character, and Detective Yeti's Suspicious Magnifying Glasses, which you can use 3 times daily per Maple ID. You can find an efficiency breakdown here.

The magnifying glasses dropped by monsters near your level can be traded once. They are currently selling for around 3 million mesos and 100 million mesos, respectively.

Defeating 10,000 monsters near your level each day also lets you claim a Detective Yeti's Suspicious Magnifying Glass that can be transferred between characters within the same world.

This event lets you claim an event ring with no requirements, so it is well worth joining even now.

Alongside normal enhancement, you can upgrade the ring using currencies dropped by monsters near your level and earned through missions. Late starters can catch up on the weekly investigation missions all at once. If you cannot get the stats you want, another option is to apply the Event Ring Legendary Potential Scroll from the check-in rewards and use the ring for item drop rate and meso acquisition.

[Personal Burning]&[Momentum Pass]

ASDF_00006

The Personal Burning event is also underway. The main goal is to complete missions by earning EXP, with requirements that factor in weekly EXP content. With 3 weeks remaining as of 10/29, completing every stage will not be easy.

ASDF_00007

Still, weekly bosses provide EXP too, and hunting your weekly allowance of 24,000 booster monsters takes a little under 2 hours, earning you 48 fragments in a single remaining week. Each growth mission stage also awards 1,000 coins to spend in the Coin Shop, so even a little participation is worthwhile. The EXP and coin rewards stay the same at higher growth mission stages, rather than increasing as you progress.

Purchasing the Momentum Pass can also help you make meaningful progress on the growth missions. The current pass runs for 3 weeks and requires 7500 points in total, with 2500 points available each week. Even if you start on 10/29, you can reach level 10 without spending Maple Points.

[Maple Escape Minigame]

ASDF_00009

Finally, an escape room minigame is running as a side event. Its rewards are purely cosmetic, making it a relatively low priority.

The event is said to be inspired by real escape rooms and is reportedly both fairly challenging and enjoyable. All chapters open on 11/5, and many players seem to be waiting until then to play through them in one go.

Closing Thoughts

As mentioned at the start, there are still modest but worthwhile rewards to earn even if you join now. If you have been considering a return, I think this is a reasonably good time.

As previously revealed on Maple Now, the November 19 update will also bring a collaboration event with Blue Archive. Based on last year's One-Punch Man collaboration, we can likely expect a short, 1-month check-in event alongside various other events. Last time included a Special World, but we will have to wait and see what is planned this time.

ASDF_00011

The main December events look likely to begin on December 17, judging by when the current events end. It is also worth noting that, barring any surprises, a check-in event leading up to that update will likely run in November.

Thank you for reading.
