[Mabinogi Mobile] No wonder I wasn’t building up any gold! I missed the daily dungeons for over 2 weeks... total newbie move

Hi, I'm 이호, an adventurer living in Erinn!

Ever made any funny newbie mistakes, or had moments you'd rather forget?
“I've honestly got too many to count.”

Maybe it's because this was my first RPG in 10 years... A few that really stick with me: using a curse removal potion every time an enhancement failed, missing daily dungeons for over 2 weeks because I didn't even know they existed, and buying dyes from the Item Shop for 200 Deca each whenever I needed them, completely unaware I could craft them myself.

Was it because I was coming back to RPGs after 10 years and knew absolutely nothing, or was I just being a little too diligent...? I figured if something was cursed, I had to lift the curse first, and dyes were obviously something you got from the cash shop or events, so of course you bought them from the shop! If only I'd asked someone...

That's newbie me in the picture, having spent 1,000 Deca on 5 dyes from the Item Shop and feeling very pleased with how the colors turned out. I've made some painful mistakes, so today I'm airing my embarrassing newbie stories in the hope that anyone just starting Mabinogi Mobile won't miss the things I did.

The first one happened while I was enhancing my weapon. Improving your gear's stats is called “Engraving Enhancement,” and if an attempt fails, your gear gets cursed. I took one look at my cursed item and thought...

“It's cursed, so I'd better lift the curse.” (Stop right there, past me…)

Sounds reasonable enough, right? So I used a curse removal potion, then tried enhancing it again. The problem was, I kept doing this every single time an enhancement failed.

In my head, the routine was already set. Enhancement fails → Use curse removal potion → Enhance again. Obviously you had to lift the curse before trying again... or so I thought!

But did you know? A successful Engraving Enhancement also lifts the curse on your gear.

I had no idea, so there I was, using potions between attempts!

When I finally found out, something clicked.

Wait, wasn't the Enhance button still active even when the gear was cursed?
Why didn't I think to click it?

The button had been right there the whole time, and I'd gone and added an extra step all on my own. I was so new to all this that it never occurred to me to question my “gotta deal with that curse first” logic! Oh no...

The thing to remember here is that just attempting an enhancement won't lift the curse—it has to succeed. But if the enhancement level was low and I had enough materials, enhancing successfully was the better deal! My mistake was treating the potion as a required first step even when I was going to keep enhancing anyway.

Surely none of you were lifting curses before clicking Enhance like I was, right? These days I even buy curse removal potions from the marketplace to use... if only I'd saved those ones back then.

Of these three stories, missing daily dungeons is still the one I regret most. At first, the whole idea of “dungeons you can enter on different days of the week” wasn't even on my radar. It wasn't that I knew about them and couldn't be bothered—I had no idea they were something I should be keeping up with.

Of course I didn't. It was my first RPG in 10 years, so how would that even have occurred to me?

And that's how I went over 2 weeks without doing any daily dungeons.

Back then, I kept wondering why I wasn't building up gold like the people who'd started with me. We'd all started at the same time, so why was I always so short on gold? Turns out I'd been walking right past the easiest way to earn it! Once I finally found out, all those missed runs really stung.

According to the current official guide, you enter daily dungeons by accepting the daily part-time jobs available from level 32. Which dungeon opens and what its main rewards are depends on the day, so it's not a case of running the same gold dungeon every day.

Available days

Dungeon

Main reward

Monday·Thursday

Shining Cave

Gold

Tuesday·Friday

Dazzling Mansion

Gems

Wednesday·Saturday

Radiant Ruins

Alchemy Recombustion Catalyst

Sunday

Depends on your chosen dungeon

The daily part-time job for Radiant Ruins becomes available at level 45!

I've been running these dungeons pretty much every single day for nearly 1 year now, so I can barely believe I did that, but back then I had no idea how the schedule worked. I didn't even know “daily dungeons” were a thing! If you're used to RPGs, they're a given, but even the idea of them was new to me.

Exactly how much gold did I miss out on? Sob. I keep telling myself my level was low back then, and so was the difficulty I could enter, so it probably wasn't that much... That's my consolation, anyway. Still, going over 2 weeks without even knowing about them is my number-one embarrassing secret, one I'd never told anyone.

The third story goes back to buying my first Adventurer Pass and trying out dyeing for the first time! I just assumed dyes were paid items, so whenever I needed one, I'd buy it with Deca from the Item Shop. Wanted to change my outfit's color? Buy a dye. Needed another one? Buy another!

I was having so much fun with Mabinogi Mobile that I started looking up all sorts of tips and info, and then one phrase caught my eye.

[Dye Crafting]

Wait, you can make dyes?

That was news to me! I'd been carefully saving up Deca and buying dyes one at a time whenever I needed one, and all along I could've been making them myself!

So that very day, I scraped together every bit of material I could. I'd put off dyeing more than a few outfits because I didn't have enough Deca, and now you're telling me I could make dyes! I gathered the materials right away and crafted 30 dyes. Afterward I felt so proud, like I could skip a meal and still feel full just looking at them... you know the feeling, right?

My mistake was never even considering that crafting dyes might be an option. If I'd known I could gather materials and make them, of course I would've tried! Still, this one was more “ouch, all that wasted Deca” than outright embarrassment. Maybe the first two stories just set the bar too high?

Looking back, all three mistakes came from being clueless as I got back into RPGs. I think I was stuck on the idea that there was obviously only one way to do things—this way! And it never even crossed my mind to ask anyone.

I doubt most new players will rack up embarrassing stories quite like mine. After all, I was a newbie playing an RPG for the first time in 10 years! There probably aren't many people starting with quite this little game knowledge(...)

Still, just in caaase you end up making the same mistakes I did... here's a quick recap!

  • A successful enhancement lifts the curse on an item.

  • You can enter daily dungeons every day, and the dungeon type changes depending on the day.

  • Buying dyes from the Item Shop isn't your only option—you can craft them too!

Have you ever found something out later and thought, “Why did I do that?”

I still picture past me staring at a cursed weapon and reaching for a potion, with that active Enhance button sitting right there.
All I had to do was click the button once, so why on earth didn't that occur to me...?
