 Gold has many uses in Erinn, from trading with NPCs and repairing weapons to synthesizing runes through alchemy. Players spend plenty of time farming hunting grounds to earn it. As most players in Erinn know, dungeons are the place to go for equipment, while hunting grounds are the place to go for gold. With that in mind, I have put together three more ways to make your gold go further. Let’s take a look.

Selling materials anyway? Increase the quantity first

Breaking down branches into tannin powder can earn you about 1.5 times as much gold.

Branches can be broken down into tannin powder, and both sell for 1 gold each. The trick is that breaking down branches yields a random amount of powder—roughly 1.5 times the number of branches used. You are not guaranteed exactly 1.5 times as much, but with 1 branch yielding 1–2 units of powder, it is worth considering. The extra gold may seem modest at first, but those small gains can add up to more than you might expect. It is a simple method worth trying.

Save on repairs with performance improvement

Completing a performance improvement also fully restores durability.

Repair costs keep climbing as you equip better gear, level up, and grow stronger. Performance improvement can help you save on those costs. Here is how it works: I started with a helmet that needed repairs. Its durability was 54/170, with an estimated repair cost of 42,000 gold. Then I obtained a helmet with higher base defense to use for performance improvement.

As you can see, the helmet’s durability was fully restored for only about 9500 gold. This works because performance improvement alchemy transfers better stats, including base defense and gem sockets. My helmet already had three gem sockets, so using a helmet with two sockets for the infusion left that count unchanged. Its base defense, however, increased from 910 to 920, while its durability went from 54 to 170. Be aware that the enhancement count does not follow the same rules, so check it carefully when using this method.

Since engraving enhancement removes curses, I also tested whether it restores durability. A successful engraving enhancement had no effect on durability.

Use the Soul Stream to reduce gold costs

You can readjust the Soul Stream at any time.

Connecting stars in the Soul Stream grants various effects. Three of these stars reduce gold costs for repairs, alchemy, and engraving enhancement, respectively. Unlocking one gives you a 2% discount, which increases to 5% at level 2 and 10% at level 3. You can reset and reassign your star connections in the Soul Stream at any time, so you can adjust them whenever you need a particular discount. Making good use of this flexibility can save you a lot of gold.
