When you're questing in MapleStory, it's easy to get into the habit of attacking monsters the moment they appear.

But to see the hidden FriendStory episode “My Lips Are Moist,” which I'll cover here,

you'll need to stop attacking for a moment.

​

That's because defeating the boss right away can make you miss this story branch. Instead, you need to enter the portal on the right—the one you'd normally pass by.

​

I followed this route myself to see the hidden scene and collect the title.

One moment I was hunting monsters, and the next I was in a school romance...

​

Here's how to get the title.

※ Spoiler warning: The following covers the FriendStory prologue and Chapter 1.

1. Where Do You Start FriendStory?

​

You can find “FriendStory” under Special Content in the Maple Guide.

You can also enter the story through the “House with the Fallen Wardrobe” in Henesys.

​

Step through the wardrobe, and you'll enter another world set in a modern-day school.

Familiar MapleStory characters wear uniforms and attend school here, or appear in other modern-day roles.

​

Part of the fun is remembering who they were in their original world and comparing that with their roles here.

If you enjoy stories and character dialogue, this is a nice way to spend some time between hunting sessions.

2. Prologue: I'm Going to School in Someone Else's Place

​

The story begins when you meet a “student from another world” who has crossed over into Maple World.

The student seems quite taken with this fantasy world, though, and isn't eager to go back.

​

​

You end up attending Shinsoo International School in the student's place.

I came here to play MapleStory, and now you're sending me to school?

​

​

Then, after you beat up a bully,

rumors about a “fated transfer student” begin spreading through the school.

​

​

That fated transfer student is

the player… so, me…

​

With the whole school taking an interest in you, whether you like it or not,

the story gets properly underway.

3. Chapter 1: Cygnus and the Fated Transfer Student

​

The next chapter is

“Cygnus and the Fated Transfer Student.”

​

This chapter centers on a rumor that the fated transfer student and Cygnus will form a special bond.

Cygnus takes an interest in the rumor, with Neinheart by her side to assist her.

Cygnus is adorably oblivious here ㅋㅋ

​

The school rumors gradually turn into talk of a kiss between the transfer student and Cygnus.

Does the player get a say in this…ㅋ

​

As you get swept up in these rumors, you'll eventually go looking for Cygnus toward the end of the chapter.

Select “Sunset Clearing” at the bus stop to travel there.

After the argument with the chairwoman, a Troublemaker appears.

This is the moment to pay attention if you want to unlock the hidden story.

4. The Key Step: Don't Defeat the Troublemaker—Head Right

A boss appears, so naturally, you'd expect to defeat it.

But if you want to see the hidden scene,

don't defeat the Troublemaker right away. Head to the portal at the far right of the map instead.

​

Here's what to do, step by step.

Step	What to Do
1	Complete the FriendStory prologue, then play through Chapter 1.
2	Reach the section near the end where the Troublemaker appears.
3	Move to the far right of the map without defeating the boss.
4	Enter the portal on the right.
5	Watch the hidden scene with Cygnus.

The easy-to-miss part of this quest wasn't a complicated code or a hidden item.

It was choosing another path with a boss standing right in front of you!

If you start attacking out of habit, it's easy to move on without realizing there's more story waiting that way.

I stopped attacking and went through the portal on the right to see the hidden scene.

5. What Happens Beyond the Portal?

Head right, and you'll find Cygnus waiting for you.

​

When you suggest going somewhere safer, Cygnus says this spot is fine and starts making some puzzling remarks.

The sky is beautiful, the atmosphere is lovely, and there's no one around…

​

​

Suddenly, the mood shifts.

Then Cygnus surprises you with a kiss!

​

Wait, she actually did it?ㅋㅋ

​

What started as a rumor leads to this hidden scene.

Afterward, a quest icon appears above your head.

​

You can claim the “My Lips Are Moist” title as your reward.

Well, the name certainly gets straight to the point.

6. Things to Check Before You Start

​

If you're planning to seek out this hidden story,

here are a few things to check first.

• Look for “FriendStory” under Special Content.

• This section takes place in Chapter 1.

• Head to the portal on the right before defeating the Troublemaker.

• The reward is the “My Lips Are Moist” title, not a medal.

FriendStory's hidden stories are also tied to replaying the content.

If this is your first playthrough, be sure to distinguish the regular story from the hidden branches.

Worth a Look If You Enjoy the Story

I quite enjoyed FriendStory itself, too.

The character dialogue is charming, and seeing expressions that used to be popular made me laugh.

It's set in a modern-day school, but the dialogue has a distinctly nostalgic feel ㅋㅋ

I especially recommend it if you like MapleStory's characters or enjoy seeking out dialogue and hidden scenes beyond combat.
