Hewwo~ (˶ˊꇴˋو(و ⁾⁾
It’s your Nexon Picker, 달냥.
The friendships you make in a game don’t always stay in that game.
You hear stories about people meeting in games and becoming friends, dating, or even getting married,
but today, I’m sharing a little story of my own~!
I started chatting on Discord with people I met in Mabinogi,
and now we play other games together too, like Lost Ark and Tales Runner.
We first met because we enjoyed the same game, but as time went on, we naturally found more chances to chat,
and one by one, we found more games to play together.
Thinking about it, there’s something pretty amazing about how people I met in one online game
are still hanging out with me in other games. (How do we play so many of the same games..ㅋ) ㅋㅋㅋ
So this time, instead of a walkthrough or a look at what’s in a game,
I want to talk about how the friendships I made in Mabinogi grew beyond the game.

① Friendships That Started in Mabinogi
② From Discord to Other Games
③ Different Games, Same Friends
1. Friendships That Started in Mabinogi

Hey, everyone~!
You meet all sorts of people when you play online RPGs.
You might bump into someone in a dungeon or out in the field, or make new friends while playing music or joining a guild.

I actually use the in-game chat more than anything else.
You might not know each other’s names or faces at first, but you already have a love of the same game in common,
so starting a conversation isn’t as hard as you might think.
Mabinogi Mobile has plenty of ways to spend time with other players too, including guilds and parties.
As you talk in guild chat or tackle content together, you start finding familiar faces
you’re happy to say hello to whenever you log in.
And as you make friends one by one, the people you originally met just to play a game
can turn into people you chat with about things that have nothing to do with the game!
That’s how I naturally kept in touch with the people I met through Mabinogi, too.
Where did that lead? Well... to chatting about real life..! ㅎㅎㅎ
2. From Discord to Other Games
The more I chatted with the people I met in Mabinogi, the more our conversations started spilling out beyond the game.
And that’s where Discord comes in.

We’ve built up quite a collection of chats and messages (what’s in them is a secret ^^)
In-game, you mostly chat while you’re logged in,
but on Discord, you can keep talking without even opening the game~
And naturally, the conversation starts branching out, too.
We don’t just talk about Mabinogi anymore—we chat about other games too, and look for ones we might enjoy playing together.
For me, that’s how we ended up playing Lost Ark and Tales Runner.

Watching fireworks together in Lost Ark too (of course, it was super crowded..)
Mabinogi was the game that first brought us together, but now we play other games together, too.
When you think of gaming friends, you probably picture people logging into the same game to play together,
but once we got close, I realized we didn’t have to stick to that one game.
Even on days when we don’t play Mabinogi, we can meet up in another game and have fun together.
Every game we add gives us another way to spend time together.
So, here’s how it all happened...

Where We Hung Out |
How Our Friendships Grew |

모비노기 |
Met for the first time and became friends |
|
Discord |
Kept in touch without having to log into the game |
|
Lost Ark |
Looked for games we had in common and somehow ended up raiding together |
|
Tales Runner |
My friends gave in to my relentless “just try it, just try it” routine... |
Something like that? ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
In a way, what started as one game we had in common
has grown into a whole bunch of hobbies we enjoy together.
If we split up, we’re dead..? ㅎ.. Together f0rever...♡
3. Different Games, Same Friends

If you want to make friends or join a guild, you can ask about guilds in world chat,
but it’s also worth having a look through the Friends and Guild sections in-game.
With online games, you might eventually spend less time playing, or find that another game has caught your interest.
It’s pretty common for MMORPG players to play something else while waiting for an update,
or take a little break and come back later.
But if your friendships are tied to just that one game,
it’s easy to drift apart the longer you go without logging in...
If you stay in touch outside the game and have hobbies you enjoy together, though, it’s a different story.
You can keep those friendships going even when you’re not playing the same game.
Writing this post reminded me that games aren’t just places
where we go for the content.
We first met because we wanted to play Mabinogi,
but now we spend time together in Lost Ark and Tales Runner, too.
Maybe the longest-lasting reward I’ve gotten from gaming isn’t an item or a piece of gear,
but having people to play games with.
If you especially enjoy playing online RPGs with other people,
or want to get to know people who share your hobbies, taking part in guild or party activities
could be a nice way to make new friends~ Of course!! You don’t have to be friends with everyone.
Keeping in touch with people you click with, at a pace that works for each of you, is more than enough.
Do you have any friends you met in one game who ended up playing other games with you, too?
Well, I’ll wrap things up here for today.
I’ll be back next time with another gaming story.
달냥 signing off!
