MapleStory Echo of Hero Guide: The Skill Quest I Missed Even After Liberation

This post was created as part of Nexon's PEAK activities.

Hello!

I'm 피스타임, a Nexon PEAK creator.

Today, I'd like to cover an easily overlooked set of quests in MapleStory that let you learn Echo of Hero and its equivalents. These useful buffs increase Attack Power and Magic ATT, but both the skill names and the ways to learn them vary by class, so they're easy to miss.

I only found out about mine from a notification that popped up when I closed the game. I'd already finished liberation, yet I still hadn't learned the skill. All it took was a simple quest I didn't know about—so I'd effectively been playing on self-imposed hard mode.

Drawing on that experience, I'll explain how to complete the quests for Echo of Hero and its equivalents. If you've leveled a new character or returned after a long break and want to see whether you've missed any ways to grow stronger, be sure to check your skill window.

1. Buff Skills with Different Names but the Same Effect

Echo of Hero is a buff skill often shortened to Echo. It increases Attack Power and Magic ATT for you and other characters within a certain range. The name varies by class, but the skill serves the same purpose.

Skill Name

Classes / Class Groups

Echo of Hero

Explorers, Cygnus Knights · Mihile, Resistance · Demon · Xenon, Heroes, Kinesis

Exclusive Spell

Nova, Flora, Anima

Intensive Time

Zero

Undying Ember

레테

For example, Ren is an Anima class and uses Exclusive Spell, while 레테 uses Undying Ember. If you only look for Echo of Hero, you might assume your character doesn't have an equivalent skill. Be sure to check the name that applies to your class.

The buff increases Attack Power and Magic ATT by 4% for 40 minutes and has a cooldown of 300 seconds, or 5 minutes. Add it to your Buff Sequence and use it before hunting or taking on bosses to enjoy its long-lasting effect.

Replacing or upgrading equipment isn't the only way to grow stronger—quests like these can give you a boost, too. If you haven't learned the skill yet, I recommend taking a little time to pick it up.

2. How to Learn Echo of Hero and Its Equivalents

First, open the 0th job skill tab in your skill window and look for your class's skill. If you've already learned it, you can start using it right away. If not, follow the instructions for your class below.

Most Classes: Complete a Level 200 Class Quest

For most classes, click the light bulb icon on the left side of the screen and complete the level 200 quest in the class quest category. If you've been putting off class quests to focus on leveling, this is a good time to revisit them.

For example, Ren needs to complete [Ren] Rumors and Affection Left in a Drawer, while 레테 needs to complete [레테] A Heart Returned. I tracked down Ren's quests and learned Exclusive Spell after playing through the story. The quests are straightforward enough that you don't need a detailed walkthrough, which only made me wish I'd found them sooner.

Explorers: Head to Orbis Tower's 8th Floor

Explorers need to visit the statue on Orbis Tower's 8th floor. Search for Orbis Tower on the world map, then select the 8th floor to travel there.

There's no need to descend the tower one floor at a time—just use the built-in world map teleport. Talk to the statue to complete the quest, then check that Echo of Hero has been added to your 0th job skill tab.

Mercedes: Check the Prerequisites and the Harp

Mercedes needs to complete the Sylvidia prerequisite quests. If you're over level 200 but the quest isn't showing up, first check the questline that starts with A Visitor to Elluel.

To proceed, you'll need to buy Sylvidia a special unicorn meal for 10 million mesos. That makes this an unusual case among the quests for Echo of Hero and its equivalents: it requires mesos.

Next, you'll enter the Royal Resting Place as you progress through The Neverending Battle. If you get stuck here, click the harp on the map. It will take you to the Great Spirit so you can continue the quest.

After Learning the Skill, Add It to Your Buff Sequence

Once you've learned the skill, remember to use it. It isn't a passive that stays active just because you've learned it—it's a buff you have to activate yourself.

Assign it to a hotkey or add it to your Buff Sequence so it's easy to use before hunting or entering boss fights. The cooldown used to be 2 hours, but it's now 5 minutes, so there's no need to save it like you used to.

I didn't discover the skill I'd missed until after finishing liberation, but thankfully, the quest itself was straightforward. It was a useful reminder to check my skill window and unfinished class quests from time to time, even on a character I play regularly and know well.

When you log in today, check whether you've learned your class's version of Echo of Hero. If you have, take a moment to make sure it's in your Buff Sequence, too.
