MapleStory Boss Practice: Where to Find the Practice Mode Training Dummy!
재파민

Hello from a fan of Nexon games!
I'm 재파민!

I used to stick to solo runs, but lately I've wanted to take on higher-tier bosses, so I've been putting in plenty of practice. It turns out quite a few people are like me: they play solo because they worry about letting others down, or they simply aren't interested in bossing at all. In this post, I'll walk you through some ways to practice boss fights without the pressure.
How to Practice Boss Fights in MapleStory: Using Practice Mode

First, let's look at Practice Mode. Select the portal on the map for the boss you want to fight, and you'll find [Practice Mode] in the bottom left. Click it to take on the boss with full buffs. This is a useful way to practice handling the boss's attack patterns.

One thing to keep in mind: starting partway through a fight will not unlock the next phase. For example, if you start at phase 1 and clear through phase 3, you'll unlock everything through phase 3 in Practice Mode. But if you start at phase 2 and clear through phase 3, phase 3 won't unlock. If you ask a friend, “Could you clear boss OO for me so I can practice?” make sure you start at phase 1.

Once you feel you've had enough practice, head to the boss party recruitment board and try a party run with other players. If it's your first time, look for parties labeled “learning” or “practice” so you can give it a try without the pressure.
There's nothing wrong with soloing bosses below Black Mage or farming Easy Kaling on bossing mules, but if you have the chance to take on higher-tier bosses, I recommend giving them a try. Pitched Boss drops are more accessible these days, so I think it's well worth the effort. Unless you're seriously disrupting the run or using up all your lives 2~3 runs in a row, people generally won't give you a hard time.
Where to Find Training Dummies in MapleStory

If you want to check your DPS or use Battle Analysis, try attacking a training dummy. To find one, go to Maple Guide > Mu Lung Dojo, talk to the NPC there, and head to the Fog Forest Training Grounds. Once there, you can adjust the settings to suit your needs and measure your damage output. It's a useful place to practice your damage rotation, so I visit from time to time.
If getting to the Fog Forest Training Grounds feels like a hassle, open the boss menu and travel to the [Balrog] boss map to practice instead. The boss has unlimited HP, so you can keep attacking freely.
That covers how to practice boss fights in MapleStory, use Practice Mode, and find training dummies. These are essential tools for becoming a skilled MapleStory player, so let's keep practicing together.
