Hello there~ (˶ˊꇴˋو(و ⁾⁾
It's your NEXON Picker, 달냥.
If someone new to mobile RPGs asked me which class to play,
I'd probably recommend one with easy controls and reliable survivability over one with high damage.
Of course, Mabinogi Mobile lets you level multiple classes on a single character,
so there's no need to stress too much about your first class choice—a nice little bonus~ㅎㅎ
Still, for anyone just getting started in Mabinogi Mobile, I do have a few recommendations!
I'd suggest looking at Ice Mage and Archer first.
Ice Mage excels at survivability and steady combat, while Archer lets you attack from a distance, making it relatively easy
to get comfortable with combat.
If you'd rather play a melee damage dealer who gets right up close to enemies, Swordsman is also a good option.
When you're new to RPGs, the sheer number of classes can make it hard to choose.
And sometimes you pick a class everyone recommends, only to find it just doesn't feel right for you ㅠㅜ
So this time, instead of focusing on damage numbers or popularity rankings,
I've rounded up 3 classes that help beginners ease into combat, along with
a few helpful things to know when choosing your first class.
| Contents |
① Want a steady start? Ice Mage
② Prefer ranged damage dealers? Archer
③ Love the feel of melee combat? Swordsman
1. Want a steady start? Ice Mage

My first recommendation is Ice Mage.
Ice Mage is an advanced class in the Mage line that attacks enemies with ice magic.
What makes this class a good pick for beginners
is that it combines offense with survivability and combat support.
With survival tools like shields and the ability to contribute to Break, it gives you a more reliable way to learn the flow of combat.
If this is your first mobile RPG, you might still be learning enemy attack patterns
and figuring out which order to use your skills in.
Being able to keep fighting a little more safely while you learn is a pretty big advantage.
That said, if you're hoping for high burst damage right from the start, it might feel a little underwhelming compared with other damage-dealing classes.

2. Prefer ranged damage dealers? Archer

Next up is Archer.
Archer is a bow-wielding ranged damage dealer.
Unlike melee classes that fight up close, Archer can attack while keeping a distance from enemies—
that's the class's defining feature.
The skills are relatively straightforward to use, making it worth a look if you're leveling a damage dealer for the first time.
If you'd rather keep your distance and attack than rush up to enemies,
Archer could be a better fit for you.
Of course, playing a ranged class doesn't mean you're always safe!
You'll still need to move out of enemy attack areas during boss fights, and good positioning matters when using your skills too.
Still, if learning complicated combos right away sounds a bit overwhelming,
I'd recommend starting with a ranged damage dealer that has a clear role, like Archer.

3. Love the feel of melee combat? Swordsman

Last up is Swordsman.
Unlike the two classes above, Swordsman is a melee damage dealer who moves in close and attacks with a sword.
The class uses rapid sword attacks and skill combos,
so it's a good pick if you enjoy the hands-on feel of controlling your character in combat.
A defining part of playing Swordsman is combining different skills,
such as Steel Wedge, Scabbard Strike, Gale Slash, and Flying Sword.
How effective you are in combat depends on the order you use your skills in,
so there's a bit of a learning curve at first.
For some players, though, that's part of the fun.
So if you enjoy taking direct control,
I don't think you have to limit yourself to the easiest classes, even when you're just starting out~
Just remember that melee combat often puts you within the enemy's attack range,
so you'll need to watch those attack patterns and keep yourself alive too.

Wrapping Up - How should you choose your first class?
Here's how the three classes compare.
|
Recommended Class |
Main Strengths |
What Beginners Should Consider |
|---|---|---|
|
Ice Mage |
Survivability · Steady combat |
Prioritizes stability over burst damage |
|
Archer |
Ranged attacks · Intuitive combat |
Needs to maintain distance and respond to attack patterns |
|
Swordsman |
Fast melee attacks · Skill combos |
Requires familiarity with the controls and skill sequences |
But here's something worth remembering!
Mabinogi Mobile doesn't lock you into your first class forever.
Once you've leveled your character and advanced your class,
you can switch classes by getting a weapon or emblem for another class.
Your previous class keeps its level and experience even after you switch,
so you don't need to make a new character just because your first choice wasn't a good fit!

You'll find the class-switching option here:
Profile in the top-left corner → Class

It's perfectly fine to start with a class that appeals to you, then switch when you get curious about another combat style.
Personally, I'd think about three things before choosing a class.
-
Whether you prefer fighting up close or attacking from a distance
-
Whether you enjoy putting skill combos together yourself or feel more comfortable with simple controls
-
Whether you prefer dealing damage quickly or keeping combat steady
Just because other players recommend a class doesn't mean it'll be the right fit for you.
I think starting with a class that helps you learn combat comfortably, then figuring out your preferences as you play is a perfectly good approach too.
You can also do what I did and explore the advanced classes within your starting class line until you find one that suits you.
That's all for this post!
I'll be back next time with more gaming stories.
This is 달냥, signing off!
