Hey there~ (˶ˊꇴˋو(و ⁾⁾
It's your Nexon Picker, 달냥.
When it comes to choosing a pet to adventure with in Mabinogi Mobile,
I'd recommend a pet with the stats your class needs and a cute pet you'd love to have by your side every day.
Pets boost your character's stats in combat and lend a hand with their skills, but...
Exploring Erinn with an animal friend you love is part of the fun, too!
Once you start looking, though, there are so many pets to choose from—not to mention their companion stats and unique skills...
There's more to check than you might expect.
I play a Dark Mage and like to concentrate my damage during break windows,
so I started looking at which pet abilities would help me in combat.
That doesn't mean you have to give up on a cute pet, though!
In Mabinogi Mobile, you can set separate pets for combat and towns.
So this post is for anyone choosing their first pet.
I've put together a quick guide to what to look for.

① Combat Pets: What Should You Check First?
② Pet Companions: Getting Both Performance and Cuteness
1. Combat Pets: What Should You Check First?
In Mabinogi Mobile, pets do more than just follow your character around!
Bringing a combat pet along boosts your character's stats, and your pet can also use skills to help in battle.
So, which pet is best?
Rather than going straight for the highest-rarity pet, I'd start by checking whether its stats suit your class and combat style.
|| First Up: Companion Stats || |
|---|
Each pet gives your character different companion stats.
Common examples include Critical Hit, Break, Extra Hit, Multi-Hit Enhancement, and Heavy Hit Enhancement.
The stats you need depend on your class and gear setup,
so the same pet won't be the right choice for everyone.
|
Your Playstyle Priority |
Stat to Check |
|---|---|
|
Making the most of break windows |
Break |
|
Making use of extra attack effects |
Extra Hit |
|
Multi-hit-focused build |
Multi-Hit Enhancement |
|
Heavy-hit-focused build |
Heavy Hit Enhancement |
|
Boosting your Critical Hit stat |
Critical Hit |
For example, if your playstyle calls for concentrating your attacks during break windows like mine does,
you could start by looking at pets with break-related stats.
On the other hand, if Multi-Hit Enhancement or Heavy Hit Enhancement matters more for your gear setup,
it's worth comparing pets that offer those stats.
|| Check Unique and Normal Skills, Too || |
|---|
Once you've checked companion stats, it's time to look at pet skills.
Pet skills come in two types: unique skills and normal skills.
-
Unique skills: Fixed skills specific to each pet, available from Epic rarity onward
-
Normal skills: A pet can have up to 3, depending on its rarity

Unique skills can't be changed, so if you plan to raise a pet long-term,
be sure to check these ahead of time!
For example, Pomeranian-type pets charge your ultimate gauge, while Baby Wolf-type pets offer break-related effects.
Each type of pet helps out in combat in its own way.
You can change normal skills with a Training Skill Disk, which lets you transfer a skill from another pet.
You'll need a material pet of the same rarity to transfer a skill, and that pet is consumed in the process,
so choose carefully.
Instead of trying to work out a complicated skill combination right away,
check things in this order: companion stats → unique skills → normal skills.
|| Where Can You View Your Pets? || |
|---|
You can view the pets you own through either of these menus:
Menu(≡) → Mounts and Pets or Bag → Mounts·Pets
One way to get new pets is through Pet Lucky Boxes in the Cash Shop.
You can check the contents and drop rates under 메뉴(≡) → 캐시샵 → 럭키박스,
so I'd recommend making sure the pet you want is included first.
As of 10.14, English Sheepdogs and Shih Tzus are available in Lucky Boxes—just a heads-up!

2. Pet Companions: Getting Both Performance and Cuteness
Once you've chosen your combat pet, it's time to bring along an animal friend you love.
One feature I really like in Mabinogi Mobile's pet system is Accompany Only in Town.
Even with a combat pet selected, you can bring a different pet along in town!
It's easy to set up, too.
Bag → Mounts·Pets → Select the pet you want → Accompany Only in Town

Once that's set, your chosen pet will appear in non-combat areas like towns and My Home.
Just keep in mind that pets set to accompany you only in town don't boost your character's stats.
|| Which Pet Should You Bring Along? || |
|---|
For a town pet, why not pick based on looks rather than performance?
If you like fluffy dogs, try an English Sheepdog. If you prefer small animals or cats, there are plenty of cat pets to choose from. Think there aren't any reptile pets? There are!

From furry friends to reptiles, there's plenty of variety!

I love furry friends, and this Sheepdog series has fluffy fur and party decorations...? I couldn't resist,
so I've been trying my luck with pulls...
But the one I want doesn't seem ready to show up, so I've got a Ribbon English Sheepdog with me for now... When will you come home...?
Bring your favorite cute pet along in town, and use a pet with stats that suit your class in combat.
|| You Can Dye and Dress Up Pets, Too? || |
|---|
Did you know you can customize pets just like your character?
You can dye some pets' outfits and accessories using Pet Outfit Dye.

This applies to pets of Elite rarity or higher that have outfits or accessories, though some pets have dyeing restrictions,
so be sure to check beforehand.
If you have a signature color, matching your pet's colors to yours could be fun, too!
What I like about this system is that you can keep your combat performance up while still enjoying the company of a pet you love.
