POTM is short for ‘Player Of The Month,’ a football award given to the best player of the month.
In addition, FC Online features POTM voting content that lets users take part in selecting the K League Player of the Month. It is an engaging feature because it highlights players who performed well in real matches, and user votes are also reflected in the actual award results.
What POTM Means

POTM is an award given to a player who delivers outstanding performances over the course of a month. Unlike choosing the best player from a single match, the key point is that it reflects performance over a set period.
The K League’s ‘EA SPORTS Player of the Month’ award is presented jointly by the Korea Professional Football League and EA, its official video game partner. Major overseas leagues such as the Premier League and La Liga also have Player of the Month awards, but the selection process can vary by league.
The FC Online POTM vote covers the K League Player of the Month award. It can also be a useful way to see which players are performing well in the domestic league.
How FC Online POTM Voting Works

The K League Player of the Month is decided by combining expert evaluations and fan voting.
|
Category |

Korea Professional Football League TSG Technical Committee Vote |

K League Fan Vote |
25% |

FC Online User Vote |
15% |
First, the Technical Committee’s initial vote selects four nominees. Then K League fan voting and FC Online user voting are held for those players. The results are combined using the set percentages to determine the final winner.
That means the voting held in FC Online is directly connected to a real football award. If you review the candidates’ performances and cast your vote, part of the appeal is seeing whether the player you chose ultimately wins.
August Player of the Month: Jeong Seung-won

The August 2026 POTM voting period, which I checked this time, ran from September 10 to 13. If you visit the page now, voting has already ended, so you cannot participate directly, but you can still check the nominees and the final result.

The nominees were Galego, Rubikson, Lee Dong-gyeong, and Jeong Seung-won. Among them, FC Seoul’s Jeong Seung-won was ultimately selected as the winner.
Jeong Seung-won recorded 3 goals and 3 assists in K League 1 during August. In Round 24 against FC Anyang, he especially stood out with 1 goal and 2 assists, earning round MVP honors. In short, he showed both finishing ability and the ability to create chances for teammates.

What stood out most to me personally was the fact that he won the award in back-to-back months after also winning in July. His form was not limited to a single month, and he was selected as Player of the Month again the following month. Even for people who do not follow football closely, that makes it easy to understand just how strong his recent performances have been.
The winner receives a trophy and prize money, along with the benefit of wearing the Player of the Month patch on that season’s uniform. In other words, the voting result shown on the game’s website leads to a real award and even a uniform patch for the player.
The Connection Between Real Football and the Game

POTM content can be a starting point for getting to know players, even for people who do not follow the K League every week. By reviewing the nominees’ records and performances, you can see why they were selected for Player of the Month consideration.
In that process, players who catch your attention can also be found in FC Online. After learning what role they play in real matches, you can compare that with their in-game player information or see whether they might fit into your squad, which adds another layer of interest.
A POTM win and a player card’s in-game performance should be viewed separately, but once you know not just the player’s name but also their real-world performances, there are more ways to think about building a team. It is especially well suited to players who enjoy football games built around their favorite club or the players they support.
Wrapping Up

FC Online POTM adds to immersion by letting users follow real players’ performances and take part in selecting the winner. If you are interested, check the next voting schedule and nominees on the official POTM page.
