Hello~_~
If you're just starting MapleStory or returning after a long break,
one of the first things you end up stressing over is which character to make.
Once you open the character creation screen, there are just so many jobs... and it's hard to know which one to pick.
In moments like that, MapleStory’s official 〈Job Introduction〉 guide is really useful.
You can check each job’s concept and basic info, then watch battle videos to narrow down the ones that catch your eye.
When I came back, I used this guide too while choosing a character for Hyper Burning.
So today, I wanted to share the questions it helped me answer!
Q. I only know the name of a job. Can I figure out what kind of character it is?
I had just come back to MapleStory after a long break... and the Hyper Burning event was going on (level-up 1+4).

That meant I needed to choose a character for the Hyper Burning event.

At the time, the one job I already recognized was
Lete, which I’d seen advertised really prominently at Seongsu Station.

The face was familiar from the ad, but I had no idea what kind of job it actually was.
I didn’t know the concept behind it or how it fought,
so it was hard to choose it right away.

What helped here was MapleStory’s official 〈Job Introduction〉 guide.
On the official website,
you can find it under Guide → Job Introduction.
Go straight to the official MapleStory Job Introduction
Q. There are too many jobs. Where should I start?

If you're coming back after a long time, a lot of the jobs may be completely new to you, and even the names can feel unfamiliar.
What I liked about the Job Introduction is that you can browse by class branch, like Warrior, Mage, Archer, and so on.
Instead of searching every single job one by one from the beginning, it’s easier to start with the branch you’re interested in and narrow your options from there.
Do you want a character that uses magic,
a character that uses a bow,
or one that fights up close...?
And if you're like me and got interested in a specific character after seeing an ad,
you can start with that job too.
It’s also nice for simply browsing through the full list of jobs
to get a feel for what kinds of character styles and vibes are out there.
That’s where I looked up Lete.

Lete is a demon summoner,
with a backstory about heading to another world to retrieve escaped summons.
A character I’d only recognized by face suddenly felt a lot more interesting.
When I choose a job, I care not only about skills
but also about the character concept, so I really liked having this kind of explanation.
If you know what kind of character you're going to raise before you start,
it’s easier to feel attached to them.
Q. Can I also check the main stat and weapon?
The Job Introduction also shows each job’s main stat and weapon.
For Lete, it lists:
-
Main stat: INT (Intelligence)
-
Weapon used: Karta
as the basics.
If you're new, even stat names can feel unfamiliar at first,
so it’s helpful to know in advance which attribute your job mainly uses.
Later, when you start reading guides about stats or equipment,
having this basic information first makes things feel much less overwhelming.
Of course, the Job Introduction won’t fully explain how to allocate stats or build gear in detail,
so once you reach that stage, it’s a good idea to look up more specific guides.
Q. Can I preview what the skills look like too?
I personally care a lot about skill effects and impact.
If I’m going to play a character for a long time, I want the skills I’ll keep seeing to match my taste...

So before I choose a job, I always try to watch actual combat footage too.
The battle videos in the Job Introduction
helped me preview what kinds of skills the character uses and how they actually look on screen.
Compared to only reading written explanations,
seeing the character in motion made it much easier to understand.
These are the main things I usually check when I watch:
-
Whether I like the skill colors and effects
-
What kind of range the attacks cover
-
How the character and summons move
-
Whether it still feels like my style even after watching for a while
Of course, whether the impact and controls really suit you
is something you can only know for sure by playing it yourself.
Still, before creating the character,
I like that you can at least get a sense of how the job fights before you start.
Instead of wandering around and searching every job separately, it’s nice that you can check first on the official website. ㅎㅎ
Q. So why did I end up choosing Lete?
What stood out to me most in Lete’s introduction
was the fact that the summons attack enemies automatically.
I already liked the demon summoner concept, and I also really liked the idea of fighting alongside summons.

That instantly made it my Hyper Burning character.
That said, the official Job Introduction
isn’t a page that ranks which jobs are strongest.
For me, it was much more helpful for checking what kind of character a job is and how it fights than for comparing performance rankings.
I recommend this for:
-
Players who are starting MapleStory for the first time and find even the job names unfamiliar
-
Returning players who are curious about newly added jobs
-
Players who care a lot about skill effects and character concept
-
Anyone who still hasn’t decided which character to raise with Hyper Burning
A good approach is to pick a few jobs you like through the official Job Introduction first,
then look into extra details like difficulty or actual grinding style if you want to dig deeper.
If you're planning to join the Burning event, there’s still plenty of time since it runs until December!
Just make sure to check the separate event notice as well for the exact schedule and character requirements.
Conclusion
Having lots of jobs is nice because it gives you plenty of options,
but actually choosing one can be a headache.
Using MapleStory’s official Job Introduction, I was able to check Lete’s concept, its summon-based combat style, and its main stat and weapon.
And in the end, I picked Lete.
So if you're starting MapleStory or coming back and aren't sure which job to choose, try the official guide first. ㅎㅎ
Then enjoy Maple! Bye ~~
