The mornings and evenings have turned pleasantly cool. In the real world, autumn announces itself through blue skies, crisp air, and leaves just beginning to change. So what does autumn look like in Erinn? I took a stroll through the world of Erinn in Mabinogi Mobile to see how fully the season comes to life there.
Autumn = harvest season = a bountiful Chuseok
What comes to mind when you think of autumn? The harvest, of course. Apples, pears, and other fruits ripen, while rice and wheat turn golden. It is a season for celebrating and giving thanks for a plentiful harvest, while also wishing for another good one to come. Chuseok, in particular, carries the meaning of an autumn evening, and it is also said to refer to the night when the autumn moonlight is at its most beautiful. It is a time to make wishes to the round, bright moon as well. Another name for Chuseok, Hangawi, is said to be a pure Korean word meaning the great day at the very heart of autumn (Encyclopedia of Korean Folk Culture). So how can we enjoy Chuseok in Erinn? There are quite a few ways. Let’s take a look, one by one. Off we go!

First way to enjoy autumn: embrace the harvest season!
Chuseok is a season of abundant harvests. To mark the occasion, I put on farmer’s clothes and harvested ripe rice. The blue sky and Boksseuli seemed to be cheering me on. Of course, rice is not the only crop we can gather. There is fruit as well, and autumn apples look especially plump and delicious.

Chuseok = 秋夕 = autumn’s chu! evening’s seok!
= the night when the autumn moonlight is at its finest = let’s go moon-viewing!
A great big moon hangs over Dunbarton Square. Since this is the time of year when autumn moonlight is at its loveliest, it feels like the perfect moment to fly a kite, admire the moon, and make a wish. On a dark night, that round, radiant moon looks especially beautiful against the scenery of Dunbarton. It also makes for a lovely photo spot, so it would be nice to take a picture there and keep it as a memory.

Autumn calls for leaf-peeping, after all! A picnic beneath the red tree in Goddess’ Garden
In Goddess’ Garden, there is a red tree whose leaves are Phoenix feathers. I once mentioned that the feathers gathered in Moile are not actually from a Phoenix. That is because the leaves on the red tree in Goddess’ Garden are the real Phoenix feathers, and they are shaped like feathers. Someone even made a fuss over the idea that there might be a Phoenix egg near the tree, so I went to check it out—but for now, there was no egg. Still, this is a wonderful place to enjoy the autumn foliage. You can take photos, soak in the mood, and perhaps even keep an eye out for a Phoenix that might one day be found somewhere nearby.

Autumn is the season of leisure, so let’s relax beneath blue skies and cool air
At the edge of the bustling square, there is an elderly woman sitting on a bench and quietly enjoying a peaceful moment. I found myself wondering what she was doing there and what exactly she was looking at, so I sat beside her for a while. With the calm atmosphere and the pleasantly cool air, it felt genuinely wonderful. Autumn really is a season for slowing down. Why not enjoy the refreshing air and take a leisurely walk as the weather turns cooler?

Time to bring out the autumn clothes = an autumn fashion show!
Some outfits really are made for autumn. In the height of summer, we wear as little as possible to stay cool, and before long, winter will arrive and have us bundled up from head to toe. Right now is the perfect time for those in-between looks—jackets and cardigans, for example. So I changed into a few outfits to match the season. After all, what better way is there to feel the time of year than through clothing? I tried on autumn hanbok, a shirt-and-suspenders look that would have felt too warm in summer, and even a dress layered with a cardigan. With cool weather, chilly mornings and evenings, and warmer afternoons, this change of seasons is exactly when it is easiest to catch a cold.

What do you think? Can you feel a little of autumn in the air?
Both in the real world and in Erinn,
I hope you enjoy a happy autumn, and I’ll wrap up here.
