Holiday Game Recommendations: Low-Pressure Fun with FC ONLINE and 메이플 키우기

[This post was created as part of Nexon PEAK activities.]

Hello, I'm 꽤돼.

For this holiday break, my recommendations would be FC ONLINE and MapleStory: Idle RPG.

Both let me play on mobile whenever I have a moment, without staying at my PC. Just as importantly, I can play for as long as I want and stop without committing to a lengthy session.

I tend to have more free time during the holidays, but when all my relatives are together, I feel a little self-conscious about sitting alone at my PC playing games for hours.

So rather than choosing games that need my full attention throughout the break, I've focused on ones that are easy to enjoy while traveling, watching TV, or filling a little spare time.

Ways to play over the holidays

FC ONLINE

Players who enjoy football games and building squads

Manager Mode, transfer market, upgrades, quick 1:1 matches

MapleStory: Idle RPG

Players who enjoy watching their characters grow

Daily tasks + idle progression

It also mattered to me that these are both games I actually play.

I mostly play Manager Mode in FC ONLINE. I started MapleStory: Idle RPG on September 8, so I've been playing it for about 15 days now.

FC ONLINE: Let Manager Mode run while you do other things

Lately, I've spent most of my time in FC ONLINE playing Manager Mode.

My current squad is an all-DP team made up of 25DP class players, built specifically for Manager Mode.

Controlling the players yourself is fun, but Manager Mode's main advantage is that you can leave it running while doing other things.

You can run Manager Mode on your PC or log in on mobile to use it while you're out.

There's more to do on mobile than you might expect.

Alongside Manager Mode, you can buy and sell players on the transfer market, upgrade them, and manage your squad. That gives you quite a bit to do without even turning on your PC.

You can check in briefly while watching TV with your family in the living room or adjust your squad while traveling. That flexibility makes it a good fit for the holidays.

Of course, if you have access to a PC, playing matches yourself is a good option too.

FC ONLINE matches aren't particularly long, so you can fit in a few when you have some spare time. If you visit a PC café with relatives, it's also a good choice for 1:1 matches against each other.

Over the years, I've often looked for games we could play together like this when visiting PC cafés with relatives during the holidays.

In those situations, being able to jump straight into a match against each other in FC ONLINE is much more convenient than spending hours working through a story alone.

The Chuseok Pick-and-Choose Burning event also happens to be running over this holiday break.

From September 24 to 27, you can earn rewards based on how long you stay logged in on PC. The Upgrade Boost running from September 26 to 27 is also available in FC ONLINE M.

If you already play FC ONLINE, consider running Manager Mode while collecting login rewards over the break, or playing a few matches with friends or relatives if you visit a PC café.

MapleStory: Idle RPG: Finish your daily tasks in 20–30 minutes

My second pick is MapleStory: Idle RPG, which I've been playing regularly lately.

I started on September 8, so I've been playing for about 15 days now. I'm currently level 72 and have reached stage 5 of chapter 14.

At first, I spent quite a bit of time with the game open, trying out different features and developing my character.

Once I'd made some progress, though, I found I could finish all my daily tasks in about 20–30 minutes.

I run it on PC more often than on mobile, but once I've finished everything, there's no need to keep watching the screen. On many days, I simply close the game.

Idle rewards keep your character growing, so there's something satisfying about logging back in, seeing your combat power rise, and clearing new stages.

This routine works well during the holidays.

You don't need to keep the game open and give it your attention all day. Just set aside a little time in the morning or evening to finish your daily tasks, spend time with your family, and log in again later.

If you enjoy watching your character's stats rise and clearing stages one by one in RPGs, even a short session can give you that sense of steady progress.

I reached level 72 in about 15 days without regularly playing long sessions. That makes it a good option for a relaxed start over the break, or for continuing to develop an existing character.

Sudden Attack: Another option for PC café visits with relatives

If I were to add one more recommendation, it would be Sudden Attack.

Unlike FC ONLINE or MapleStory: Idle RPG, Sudden Attack is less about fitting in short sessions here and there. It's more a game to play together when you visit a PC café with relatives or friends.

When I've visited PC cafés with relatives during the holidays, we've often played FC ONLINE or Sudden Attack together.

Facing each other in FC ONLINE 1:1 matches or playing Sudden Attack together offers a different kind of fun from playing alone.

You don't have to commit to a new game this holiday break. Playing familiar games in short sessions that fit your plans can be a good option too.

For me, the holiday problem isn't so much finding time to play. It's that there are often situations where playing for too long feels awkward.

That's why I'd suggest games that are easy to pick up and put down this holiday break: FC ONLINE lets you run Manager Mode or manage your squad on mobile, while MapleStory: Idle RPG lets you finish your daily tasks in around 20–30 minutes and leave the rest to idle progression.

That's all from 꽤돼.
