One of the best things about playing multiple classes in an online RPG is experiencing the same content in completely different ways. In MapleStory, building up other characters also contributes to account-wide progression through Link Skills, the Legion, and Legion Champion. That means you get tangible rewards alongside the fun of leveling.

I run weekly bosses with my main, Ren, and my alts, 레테 and Pathfinder. Each class approaches the same boss differently, which keeps things fresh. There's also the fun of finding valuable loot on each character.

Today, I'll draw on my own experience to explain how to unlock and rank up Legion Champions, and share what makes playing different classes so rewarding.

1. Finding Your Favorite Among 48 Classes

MapleStory has plenty of variety, with 48 classes currently available. They offer a wide range of combat styles and themes, from familiar options like swords, magic, and bows to telekinesis, summons, and class-specific weapons.

With so many classes to choose from, finding a perfect fit right away can be difficult. Still, I've found that watching videos of different classes hunting or taking on bosses helps me find ones I'd like to play.

Over my years of playing MapleStory, I've regularly tried building up new classes. Along the way, I've discovered tastes I didn't know I had, and fighting bosses with different classes has even helped me improve on my main.

Building up multiple classes in MapleStory does more than increase your character count. At different stages of progression, you unlock effects that benefit other characters and your entire account.

Early on, you'll level several characters to 120·200 for their Link Skills and Legion bonuses. Those bonuses also help your main while hunting and fighting bosses, so progress on your alts directly strengthens your main.

In the past, players often stopped at level 200·250 once they had the Link Skills and Legion bonuses they needed. The addition of Legion Champion gives you a reason to take characters you enjoy to level 260 or higher and invest in their gear and 6th Job skills.

As your alts get stronger, they can take on more bosses each week. You can put the mesos earned from selling Intense Power Crystals back into your main or other alts, letting your characters support one another's progression.

Gear does come at a cost, though. Rather than building up lots of characters from the start, it's better to focus on one at a time, beginning with classes you genuinely enjoy.

3. How to Unlock and Rank Up Legion Champions

You can get started with Legion Champion once you reach Grand Master Legion I, or a Legion level of 8,000 or higher, and have 1 character at level 260 or higher in the same world.

Once you meet these requirements, complete the “Path of the Maple Legion Champion” quest from Dragon Slayer MS.어카운트 in major towns. This unlocks the Champion tab in the Legion UI.

You start with 2 Champion slots. When both registered characters reach Rank A, you can unlock the third slot. Having 3 Rank A Champions then lets you unlock the fourth.

Only characters that have completed their 4th Job Advancement can be registered as Champions, and you cannot register more than one character of the same class.

Newly registered characters start at Rank C. To advance to the next rank, accept an evaluation quest from Imperial Knight SIR.햄슬롯 and defeat the designated boss solo in Champion Mode.

Clearing an evaluation in Practice Mode also counts, so you can attempt it without worrying about using up your Power Crystal rewards or boss entries.

A 30% reduction to Final Damage (25% for Black Mage) makes these fights feel harder than the regular versions. In Practice Mode, however, you also receive 햄슬롯's Protection. This reduces damage taken by 25%, including damage based on a percentage of your maximum HP.

Your Champion characters receive Champion Insignia effects based on the ranks of the characters registered in Legion Champion. Each bonus may seem small on its own, but together they add up to a substantial boost. You can currently register up to 6 Champions to receive these effects.

Registering at least two Champions also lets you take part in Champion Raid: Dragon Island, a monthly activity. During combat, you switch between characters in real time and earn Champion Coins based on your score. It's the clearest example of what makes Legion Champion distinctive: bringing the alts you've built up together in one place.

Using the Champion's Blessing buff costs Champion Coins. The coins you invest let you boost the stats you need, giving you another buff to call on when it matters.

Keep in mind that Legion Champion isn't available in Challenger World. You can, however, use the progression support offered in the summer and winter Challenger Worlds to level a character to 260 or higher. Once transferred to a regular world, that character makes a good candidate for a new Champion.

I currently clear weekly bosses with Ren, 레테, and Pathfinder. With Ren, I enjoy maintaining a constant stream of rapid-fire attacks. With 레테, the fun comes from letting summons do the attacking while I focus on dodging mechanics. And with Pathfinder, I enjoy using long-range movement skills to get past dangerous attack patterns. Each class gives me a different way to enjoy the same bosses.

Ultimately, I think the fun of building up multiple classes in an online RPG comes from finding fresh ways to enjoy the same game. I'm planning to try leveling a Bowmaster or Hero in the next Challenger World. Why not find a class you like and make it your next alt?
