MapleStory is one of Nexon’s oldest long-running RPGs. I still vividly remember first encountering it when I was 5 years old, and I kept playing it for a long time after that.

There were times when I put it off—or even stepped away for a bit—because I got tired of doing daily quests or boss runs, but whenever a new character was released or a Burning event came around, I always found myself coming back. Since I’ve kept up with the game that way, I thought I could offer some useful help with job recommendations for newer players, which is why I decided to write this post.

To look at a clear metric that a lot of players use, I brought in the job distribution chart for characters level 280 and above. The recently added Ren and Lete, along with Bowmaster—still one of the most popular jobs among players—currently hold 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

In MapleStory, most players do have a clearly defined main, but new-character events and Hyper Burning make it relatively easy to build a character to the point where it can handle weekly bosses. Because of that, many players end up with several characters in the 270+ range. Looking at the level 280-and-above population, you can clearly see that recently released jobs, as well as Bowmaster with its easy training and strong utility, make up a particularly large share.
