MapleStory Job Rankings: What Changed After the Balance Patch?

Hello,

this is Jaepamin, a fellow fan of Nexon games!

Today, I’ll be covering the Top 5 MapleStory class rankings. The long-awaited balance patch has finally been revealed on the test server.

Some of the classes that had been sitting at the top dropped a little, while several classes that had been left behind got major buffs. With the Hyper Burning event coming up as well, I put together a quick summary of the key points. I hope many of you find it helpful, and with that, let’s get started.

Table of Contents

  1. Dual Blade

  2. Shadower

  3. Night Lord

  4. Hoyoung

  5. Kaiser

The first class to see a major shift in the MapleStory rankings after the balance patch is Dual Blade. Its overall damage was increased through this patch, and its DPM rose quite a bit.

After trying it out myself on the test server, I got the sense that bossing is going to feel both more fun and more comfortable going forward. Tornado Spin also had its cast delay reduced, so the class feels much smoother when putting out damage. Overall, I’m very satisfied with the changes.

02. Shadower

Second is Shadower. It finally got its own invincibility skill, and the burst skill that used to require stack building before activation was changed so that you can now choose between a mobbing version and a bossing version.

As a result, boss fights have become much easier to handle, and you no longer have to deal with those frustrating moments where 암메암 misfires and you get unfairly punished. Some of its other damage was nerfed slightly, but I think it’s now more than good enough to use as a main.

03. Night Lord

Third in the MapleStory class rankings is Night Lord. Night Lord’s damage structure, which had been forcing point-blank damage, was improved, and its previously awkward movement skill was buffed, pushing the class firmly into the upper-mid tier.

After the balance patch notes dropped, the prices of secondary and emblem gear shot up, which already seemed to hint at Night Lord becoming more popular. With Night Lord, Shadower, and Dual Blade all getting buffs, it feels like the Adventurer Thieves have regained some of their former glory.

04. Hoyoung

Fourth is Hoyoung. Its overall structure saw major improvements, and the annoying resource management was removed, making the class much easier to play.

Because of that, it’s now much easier to deal damage, and many players are saying its final damage went up by around 5%. It was sad to see this class neglected for so long, but now I think it has plenty of appeal as a Burning character. If you’re just starting MapleStory, Hoyoung would be a solid class to try.

05. Kaiser

Fifth is Kaiser. The developers addressed all of the long-requested “please fix this” points that Kaiser players had been bringing up for a long time.

Overall, its core skills were buffed, and its somewhat clunky movement and controls were improved across the board, so many players now see it as one of the stronger warrior classes. This time, I really need to think about whether to Hyper Burn Hoyoung or Kaiser.

That wraps up my look at the Top 5 MapleStory class rankings. Quite a few other classes also received buffs this time, but these five were the ones that stood out the most to me.

It feels like LUK class item prices are going to rise a lot, so I should probably buy them ahead of time. I hope this post was helpful, and I’ll wrap things up here. If there’s anything you’re curious about, feel free to leave a comment!
