Can someone who barely knows football still enjoy watching an FC ONLINE match? I was curious,

so I took the opportunity to watch the 2026 FSL SUMMER finals.

1. 2026 FSL SUMMER Finals

2026 FSL SUMMER is FC ONLINE's highest-level regular domestic esports competition,

and it ran from July 5 to September 6, 2026.

Players representing various teams competed individually,

with the Grand Final held at DN Colosseum in Jamsil, Seoul.

The final was a best-of-7 series, with the first player to win 4 games taking the title.

I watched the finals video for 2026 FSL SUMMER.

The video featured the lower bracket final between KT Rolster's UTA 이지환 and T1's Navy 김유민,

followed by the Grand Final between UTA and BNK FEARX's Light 김선재.

UTA beat Navy 3:1 to advance to the final,

then defeated Light 4:2 in the series to claim the title.

Watching him turn things around after losing the opening game was surprisingly tense.

Coming back from that first loss to win the title is no easy feat.

Plus, with several games in the series rather than just one, it was fun to see how the mood shifted from game to game.

2. What Caught a Football Novice's Eye

I'm not particularly familiar with football tactics or all the player cards in FC ONLINE.

I'd say I know, hmm... just the basics of football, really. ㅎㅎ..

So rather than analyzing complex tactics, I focused on where attacks started and how they led to goals.

What to Watch	What I Looked For
Flow of the game	Whether a player could turn things around after conceding first
Attacking approach	Use of passes through the middle, crosses, and long-range shots
Player movement	Whether players made runs into open space before receiving a pass
Series score	How the previous game's result shaped the mood going into the next

What really caught my eye was how the competitors used passes to draw defenders out, then made use of the space that opened up, rather than shooting as soon as they got the ball.

They passed the ball around when the opposing defenders were packed together, then attacked quickly the moment a gap appeared.

It made me think, “Wow... the pros really are on another level…”
└ I'd probably have rushed things and missed more than 10 chances to score…

With goals coming from long-range shots, crosses, and skill moves, there was plenty of variety, too. Watching those attacks develop was a different kind of fun from just watching a goal compilation.

+ I also liked the slow-motion replays, just like you'd see in a real football match.

3. Why Even a Football Novice Could Follow Along

Even without knowing all the players or tactics in FC ONLINE, I found it easy to keep track of the results.

The match clock and score were on screen, and the commentators kept talking viewers through the goals and the flow of play.

Even with my limited football knowledge, I could easily tell who was attacking and which competitor had the momentum.

There was also a highlights video about 23 minutes long this time, so I could catch the key moments from the lower bracket final through to the Grand Final without sitting through the entire live broadcast.

I felt there was no need to understand every formation and tactic right away. Picking a team or player to cheer for and following the series score and the goals seemed like enough to get started.
