Today, I’m going to explain MapleStory’s boss system, which is especially fun when you play it together with a friend.

 

Why you should play with a friend!

Is an online RPG a good game for growing together with friends?

In MapleStory, absolutely yes!!

If you play with a friend,

you can earn more from boss crystals!

you can go for better item drops!

and if something good does drop, you can happily split it with your friend!

plus, you can challenge bosses you can’t clear on your own!

With this many advantages, there’s really no reason not to play together, right?

Running MapleStory weekly bosses

In MapleStory, you can clear 12 bosses each week and collect rewards.

When you defeat bosses, you get item drops and “boss crystals.”

Each boss crystal has a different price, and the higher the boss tier, the bigger the reward.

So the core of MapleStory weekly bossing is simple: pick the highest 12 bosses you can clear, and run those.

Which boss can I beat up to?

If you work your way up from the lower tiers step by step, you can roughly figure out how far you can go.

or you can also check the Boss section in the Guide like this.

And.. one more thing!!

You can also use the boss multipliers shown on a site called 환산주스탯 as a reference.

The multiplier values on that site aren’t absolute, but they’re still useful for roughly judging whether a clear is possible with your current spec.

If it shows 100% here, that means someone can clear it at that level of spec.

For me, because of control issues.. I usually need to be over 110% before I can clear it..

Boss crystal system

Boss crystal prices are calculated based on a solo clear, and depending on how many players clear the boss, that base amount gets divided by 1/n and split among the party.

As of today, boss crystal prices are set like this.

For example, if you clear Easy Bellona solo, you get 4.4억,

and if two people clear it together, each person gets 2.2억. That’s how the system works.

So depending on how you choose those 12 bosses, the amount of meso you earn from weekly bosses can change a lot.

Why it’s good to do it with a friend!

Looking at my boss cutoff multipliers on 환산주스탯, I still don’t quite have enough spec to clear Normal The First Adversary and Normal Kalos.

But!! If I go with my friend, I can clear The First Adversary and Kalos!!

So after all that talk about meso, why would I run Normal with 2 people instead of just doing Easy solo?

I still haven’t gotten one even once yet, but..

there’s a very small chance you can get a Life Thought Grindstone.

And! Bellona is now over 110% for me, but in the first week of the Bellona update, I wasn’t even at 100%. Back then, I cleared Bellona together with my friend, and we were each able to earn a big 2.2억 meso profit!!

Even now, we still run it together out of loyalty

On top of that,

for bosses like Kaling that are just too hard to solo, having two people means you can coordinate and make the clear a bit easier,

so we’re also taking down Kaling together.
