Is Mabinogi Mobile Good for Short Play Sessions? A Casual Player’s Review After Reaching Level 23

[This post was created as part of NEXON PEAK activities.]

Hello, I'm 꽤돼.

I recently started playing Mabinogi Mobile for the first time and have now reached level 23.

I'm still in the early stages and haven't experienced the high-level content yet, but from what I've played, Mabinogi Mobile offers quite a bit to do even in short sessions.

You can work through the main quests and dungeons a little at a time, and many daily missions get completed naturally through regular play without having to focus on them.

Here, I'll walk through what you can do in Mabinogi Mobile during a short session as a new player, based on my own experience.

Start by following the main quests

This was my first time playing Mabinogi Mobile.

Once you create a character and enter the game, you begin by following the main quests.

The quests introduce combat and the game's basic features one at a time, so I didn't need to look up what to do. Even as a first-time player, I found it fairly easy to get started.

It isn't all story, either. Features such as food and life skills are introduced along the way.

I didn't start out knowing exactly what I needed to do, but simply following the quests led me to try a variety of things.

I also spent some time on non-combat life skill activities, such as shearing sheep.

Rather than having you constantly hunt monsters, the main quests mix in these activities. That made short sessions seem quite manageable: I could log in and spend a little time on whatever I felt like doing that day.

I completed daily missions just by playing normally

What stood out most to me as I played was the daily mission system.

Since I had only just started, I wasn't checking the daily missions and deliberately completing them one by one.

When I opened the mission screen later, I found that I had already met the requirements for several of them.

When I checked, the list included:

  • Back in Erinn - Log in

  • Another Day, Another Dungeon Run - Clear dungeons 3 times

  • Stomach Rumbling - Eat 2 food items

  • You're No Match for Me - Defeat 70 monsters

All of these missions were already complete.

I had been running dungeons and fighting monsters as I followed the main quests, which seemed to explain why the daily missions had filled up naturally without me checking them first or treating them like chores.

This seemed like a good fit for people who play in short sessions.

At my current level of 23, this is roughly how I would spend a short session.

Play Time

Activities

0~5 minutes

Check daily and weekly missions

5~15 minutes

Work on main quests and life skill activities

15~25 minutes

Run Alby Dungeon and tackle combat content

25~30 minutes

Check completed daily missions and claim rewards

Of course, the time needed may vary depending on your character's level and progress.

Rather than trying to finish every activity each day, it seems reasonable to make some progress on the main quests or run a dungeon when you log in, then collect rewards for the daily missions you've completed along the way.

Dungeons worked well for short sessions, too

I was able to enter Alby Dungeon early on.

In the screenshot I took, Area 1 of Alby Dungeon's 1st floor had a recommended level of 7.

You can earn rewards such as EXP and gold as you progress through each area, so running a dungeon now and then was a nice option when I wanted a break from the main story.

Combat revolves around using skills to defeat monsters. It wasn't particularly difficult, and it should feel familiar to anyone who has played a typical mobile RPG.

I played as an Apprentice Bard, and the fairly elaborate combat effects helped make the early dungeon runs enjoyable.

You receive a clear rank after finishing a dungeon. Being able to play one run at a time made dungeons seem like a good option when I had a little spare time.

Daily missions also include dungeon clears, so running dungeons lets you make progress on those missions at the same time.

Alongside daily missions, there are also separate weekly missions.

Many weekly missions involve things you naturally do during regular play, such as running dungeons, defeating monsters, and eating food.

When I checked the screen, I had already made progress on objectives such as defeating 400 monsters and gathering items 20 times.

Rather than trying to finish all of these every day, I think making a little progress whenever you have time would be enough to complete them naturally over the course of a week.

After starting out and working through the various activities, I've now reached level 23 as an Apprentice Bard.

I'm still at a low level and haven't tried all of Mabinogi Mobile's content.

Based on the early stages, though, it worked well for brief sessions where I could make a little progress on the main quests or run a dungeon once or twice before logging off.

I particularly liked that objectives involving dungeons, monster kills, and food were completed naturally, even though I wasn't specifically playing to finish daily missions.

So if spending a long time on a mobile RPG every day feels like too much of a commitment, and you'd rather make gradual progress whenever you have time, I think Mabinogi Mobile is worth a try.

I'm still in the early stages myself, so I'll keep leveling and take my time exploring the other content as it unlocks.

This has been 꽤돼.
