To lighten the load of MapleStory’s daily grind, what really matters is making smart choices and focusing on what counts.

This post was created as part of Nexon PEAK activities.

Online RPGs like MapleStory and Mabinogi usually come with daily chores you’re supposed to keep up with. And the more of those chores there are, the heavier they feel for players trying to manage both the game world and real life. Developers do roll out quality-of-life patches to streamline them and ease that burden, but when you’re protecting both worlds, even the smaller tasks can still feel like a lot.

If you want to cut down that daily-pressure feeling and keep games enjoyable, I really think you need choice, focus, and flexible play. Pick only the chores you can realistically handle, and be willing to let the rest go. That’s how you keep the game from turning into work and make it something you can enjoy for the long haul.

And even among the chores I think I can handle, there are days when I just don’t want to do them depending on my condition that day. In those cases, I simply don’t do them. The stress of forcing myself through it is bigger than you might expect, and it ends up making me not want to log in at all.

In MapleStory, which I play the most, there are four daily chores I’m expected to do: Daily Gift, Daily Quest, Monster Park, and meso cap farming.

K-147With Daily Gift, if you defeat 300 monsters within your level range every day, you can earn various rewards. I always do this one, no matter what, because of Karma Black Cubes and Bonus Potential Cubes.

Daily Quests are divided into Arcane River quests and Grandis quests.

K-146As for Grandis quests, I use the scheduler to select only those, and then do them only when I actually want to. Clearing daily quests gives a lot of EXP and Erda Fragments, so yes, it’s better to do them every day. But when I forced myself to do them on days I wasn’t feeling it, it just became stressful. So on days like that, I skip daily quests entirely.

Monster Park lets you earn a lot of EXP by running the dungeon that matches your level each day.

K-153

After Extreme Monster Park, which used to give even more EXP than Monster Park, was removed, that EXP was shifted into the reward for clearing Monster Park 5 times. Because of that, 5 Monster Park runs every week feels mandatory. So I always make sure to do those 5 weekly runs, and beyond that, just like with daily quests, I only do more when I feel like it.

As for meso cap farming, I dislike grinding, so I just drop it entirely.
