Participating in the Nexon PEAK Post Challenge

I’ve played countless games, but the one that ultimately left a lasting impression on me and kept drawing me back was Mabinogi Mobile.

What I consider Mabinogi Mobile’s greatest strength is not just its combat or progression. Its cartoon-style graphics, extensive customization, beginner-friendly in-game guides, and even ensemble performances with other players all blend together naturally in a single game.

① A cartoon-style game that keeps you looking longer

The very first thing I liked when I started Mabinogi Mobile was its graphics.

I tend to prefer cartoon-style visuals with a slightly more animated feel over flashy, near-photorealistic graphics, and that style fits Mabinogi Mobile’s atmosphere beautifully. Its warm-toned cartoon-rendered visuals feel cozy rather than overly dazzling, and the overall softness makes the game easy on the eyes even during long play sessions.

What stands out in particular is how beautifully the backgrounds and characters come together as you move through towns and hunting grounds. Even ordinary places feel different depending on the weather, the time of day, and the surrounding scenery, so there are times when I stop hunting just to take screenshots.

② Character styling and customization that are even more fun than combat

One of the parts of Mabinogi Mobile I spend the most time on is character styling.

There are so many elements you can mix and match, from a character’s appearance to outfits, dyes, poses, and expressions, that even the same character can give off a completely different vibe depending on how you style them. It goes far beyond simply putting on one outfit I like. Before I knew it, I was changing hairstyles to match the outfit, then choosing expressions to match the hairstyle.

Whenever I get an outfit I really like, the first thing I do is take screenshots. Once I find a beautiful location, place my character there, and start trying different poses, I completely lose track of time.

I think this kind of styling feature is one of Mabinogi Mobile’s biggest strengths. Improving a character’s performance is not the whole of progression; creating a character in a look I personally love is also a big part of what makes the game enjoyable.

③ A helpful in-game guide that lets even newcomers settle in smoothly

In a lot of games, once your level goes up, you suddenly have a mountain of content to deal with. You may not know how to build your gear, and even figuring out which currencies to use where can start to feel confusing. When that happens, fatigue tends to set in before the fun does.

But Mabinogi Mobile has a well-designed in-game guide, so when I first started, I was able to adjust much more easily than I expected. It doesn’t just explain things through text; it also includes video guides that directly show you how to proceed, so even unfamiliar content can be learned simply by following along first. 

For people who are not used to RPGs, the moment of wondering, “What am I supposed to do?” is often the biggest barrier to entry. Mabinogi Mobile, however, is fairly clear about what you should do next.

You can also check real players’ evaluations of equipment in-game, and I think that is another major advantage that makes Mabinogi Mobile easy to enjoy. 

④ The charm of Mabinogi Mobile through ensemble performance

Another part of Mabinogi Mobile that cannot be left out is ensemble performance with other players.

Playing an instrument alone has its own quiet charm, but being able to gather one by one with other players in the town square, tune your instruments together, perform songs, and chat along the way is the decisive reason I would call this game the best.

As experiences like these built up, I came to see Mabinogi Mobile not simply as a “growth-focused RPG,” but as a game where you can enjoy all kinds of activities in the world of Erinn.

⑤ Time spent looking at my character in beautiful scenery

In places with a great atmosphere, or in areas where the sky and scenery are especially beautiful, sometimes just walking around feels like going on a trip.

On some days, I would wander around town with no particular goal, come across a spot with a beautiful sunset, and stay there for quite a while. As I changed my character’s pose and adjusted the camera angle, I would eventually forget whatever I had originally logged in to do.

I think moments like that are one of the reasons Mabinogi Mobile feels like the best game to me. A game is not only fun when you are constantly achieving something; sometimes, simply walking through Erinn with the character I created is more than enough.

⑥ To me, the best game is one that stays with you for a long time

To me, the best game is one that still makes you want to log back in even after time has passed.

Mabinogi Mobile is easy to start even for someone like me, who was never able to stick with RPGs for very long, and it also offers the fun of raising a character while following its growth content. On top of that, it has content like customization and ensemble performance that can be enjoyed in ways that feel a little different from combat.

I especially liked that it creates moments that stay with you even after you finish playing, such as wearing an outfit I loved and searching for beautiful scenery to take screenshots, or performing in an ensemble with other players.

That is why, for anyone starting Mabinogi Mobile for the first time, I would recommend not focusing only on growing as fast as possible, but instead enjoying Erinn in the way that suits them best.

Building a strong character is great, but styling my character the way I like, searching for beautiful scenery, and spending time with other people—those moments, taken together, are what I believe make up Mabinogi Mobile’s greatest charm and what has kept me playing until now.
