Today, I’m getting back into 메이플 플래닛 for the first time in a while. I haven’t had much time to play properly lately, so posts about it have been a little scarce on the blog. The busier work gets, the less time I seem to have for games. Still, whenever I have a spare moment, I’ll try to fire up MapleStory. This time, I’ll be walking through the quests from Shulynch, prince of the sea—sorry, prince of the Whale Clan, who you’ll find in the lower part of the Nautilus.

The Prince’s Request

Shulynch looks a little unwell and immediately sends you off to fetch a Mana Elixir. Treating everyone like servants—just what you’d expect from an arrogant prince.

Give him the Mana Elixir, and he says his strength has returned. Just like that, the first quest is done.

The Glowing Stone

For the next quest, he suddenly asks about a glowing stone—not that I was remotely curious. He explains that it powers the Nautilus, and that he’s the slave—sorry, the person responsible for controlling its power.

He then tells you to touch the glowing stone. Let’s head straight over.

The power source isn’t far away. As it turns out, it’s just below you.

With the glowing stone touched, it’s time to return to Shulynch.

Shulynch asks whether you touched the glowing stone and felt its power. I didn’t get a buff, so I can’t say I felt much of anything. Still, that’s the second quest complete.

Fireflies That Feed on the Spirit of the Sea 1 / 2

For the third quest, Shulynch asks you to fetch some Spirit of the Sea for the sea fireflies. But why is Kyrin suddenly part of the conversation?

Apparently, Muse in Aquarium has the Spirit of the Sea. That means yet another long trek. If the reward isn’t worth it, I might have to butcher this whale on the spot.



Off I went to see Muse. She says gathering the Spirit of the Sea takes time, so you’ll need to speak to her again later.

Speak to her again, and she’ll tell you she’s gathered a full batch of the Spirit of the Sea. It’s time to head back to Shulynch.

Once you return, Shulynch says the Nautilus will be brightly lit and that he hopes Kyrin will be pleased. This whale isn’t exactly hiding his motives. That wraps up the third quest.

A Giant Pearl

For the fourth quest, Shulynch asks you to deliver a pearl to Kyrin. He could go himself, but apparently he’s too shy. He even asks you to tell her that Prince Shulynch sent it as a gift because he thought it would suit her. So now you’re being made to play Cupid.

Before you head to Kyrin, he warns you to watch out for Muirhat. That’s not my problem.

With that, I broke open the clam and collected the pearl.

Muirhat stops you, and you ask what’s going on.

Muirhat says it’s pathetic that the prince won’t give up when he’s clearly going to be rejected anyway. You end up handing the pearl to Muirhat instead. I suppose that’s better than letting the prince face a humiliating rejection.

Wrapping Up

That covers Prince Shulynch’s quests in 메이플 플래닛 or 메이플랜드. I thought I was helping out on the Nautilus, but on closer inspection, this was a romantic comedy all along. For the record, these aren’t quests I’d particularly recommend.
