First, Let's Define "Budget-Friendly"

I don't think gaming on a budget means "not spending a penny." Here's what good value means to me.

② Put in the time, and resources actually accumulate (your effort isn't wasted)
③ Even after a break, there's a way to catch up
④ Even when you pay, it still feels like "I'm buying this, but I don't have to"

On the other hand, if you have to pay before a game becomes fun, I don't consider it budget-friendly, no matter how cheap it is. The games below met these four criteria fairly well.

If your goal isn't to compete over stats, there are fewer reasons to pay. For me, this is "the game I launch when I don't feel like doing anything," and playing without spending actually felt more relaxing for that purpose.

6. Choose just one goal. Trying to complete every bit of content leads to spending. Focusing on just one thing this month eases the strain on both your mind and your wallet.
