Collaborations are always exciting. There’s just something thrilling about seeing another world join one I’m already enjoying. That’s exactly how I felt about Mabinogi Mobile’s collaborations with Kim Chang-wan, Ailee, and Chuu as well. Out of those, I wanted to share three in particular.

Honestly, isn’t it almost unfair when Kim Chang-wan shows up and sings? His voice is full of nostalgia. It carries this soft, wistful feeling, that unmistakable kind of emotion only he has. So when I heard “The Old Legend My Grandmother Told Me When I Was Young,” the OST that instantly comes to mind when I think of Mabinogi Mobile, in Kim Chang-wan’s voice, it genuinely moved me a little. I did wonder at first whether it would match Chuu’s bright, lively voice—but that worry disappeared right away. If you haven’t heard it yet, please give it a listen at least once. The way it blends with the game’s imagery makes the whole picture really fun to take in.

Chuu’s “Lullaby of the Wind,” inserted during the ensemble part of the Airel Raid gimmick

This is “Lullaby of the Wind,” sung by Chuu. It’s the song you hear every time you take on the Airel Raid. The more I listen to it, the more perfectly it fits Airel’s image, and whenever the ensemble section comes up, I end up singing along too. In-game, that part turns into a rhythm game. Airel has such a bright, lively boss vibe—but she’s also the boss who forces all of us into a dance of madness. Sometimes, listening to Chuu’s voice, it really feels like Airel herself is the one singing.

Ailee’s “Grasp the Future,” which played near the end of raids and the Abyss

Whether you’re running a dungeon, the Abyss, or a raid, there’s a track that kicks in when the boss is almost down and the fight is just about to end. You might miss it if you play with the sound low, but if you’re really soaking in the BGM, the moment this comes on, you know. We’re almost there—the boss is going down soon! And if the battle’s been especially rough, this BGM can feel like a buff landing on your exhausted self. Ailee sang it for the 1st anniversary video. As I’m writing this, it’s changed again, so now it only plays as music rather than as a song. I still remember spending a while going all-in on Tabartas, waiting for this track to come on. Her clear, powerful vocals were just so satisfying to hear.

So that’s a look at the music collaborations Mabinogi Mobile has had so far. Even listening again while putting this together, they still sound just as good. I’ve heard Airel Very Hard is coming soon, and that has me excited too today. I really hope we get even more collaborations like these going forward.
